Computer games.

They honestly should just bin off everything they've done to the game from around 2006 or 2009 at the very latest.

It's a travesty what they did to it.

I think they’ll wait to see how classic does before the carry on. I rarely play the BFA now as it’s just not as fun. I’m looking forward to stripping it all back and getting the original classes.

You know what killed it for me? The way they made epic loot mean absolutely nothing. Getting a 'purple' was an achievement at one point - now it's just given out like sweets.

Take this for example.

You had to kill a hard raid boss and get a rare drop to even bother starting to get it, then you had to farm enemies at the end of a five-man dungeon to get the stitches to drop, as well as farm mats from difficult mobs in the highest level area of the game. It took you a month of planning and effort to get that one purple item.

But now? Press a button, join a random party, kill the first boss, there you go, enjoy your meaningless purple tat.

That was the fun of WoW - the challenge of it, the ability to do your own thing. Now it's a convoluted, bloated mess.

Yeh it’s gone very user-friendly which is why I’m enjoying playing Divinity 2 so much now for the complexity. I miss being able to pick locks, using professions properly, harder fight mechanics etc. I think I heard somewhere WoW is now down to “only” 5 million subscribers.

I’ve been playing since release so I’ve had a good run.

Played it for a bit. Liked it. But knew I’d never be arsed to complete it. Traded it in.

Could tell it was a good game though.

I have to play anything on hardest these days it kicked my ass but I got to the end. It's why games like red dead are so easy to me it almost feels game breaking which is a horrible shame. Doesnt take much to make a hard mode. Just die quicker and have very little resources available it's not rocket science. But about Nier, I love a well made Japanese game.

Yes, as well med kits, air filters etc
Best bits are cut scenes ? How far have you got into this game because it doesn't have many cut scenes and the ones it did have I can't even remember.

Red Deads a very pretty game but from technical perspective it's not on same level as Metro. I can't speak for console version as I've not seen it, they are always downgraded compared to the PC versions though. PC version is the absolute benchmark for graphics at the moment.

With regard to Metro if you literally can't see anything adjust your gamma settings. The lighting is fine for me, in-fact the use of lighting to create suspense and fear is probably one of the standout aspects of the game. There would be no fear if you had unlimited ammo and could see into every single shadow.

Should probably do some research before buying as it was never marketed as open world and neither of the previous 2 games were either, not everyone likes open world games, they often lack focus and I'm personally bored to tears of travelling from point to point just do some generic as feck mission. Open world games were exciting about 10 years ago, now they just bore me to tears most of the time.

Annoying to have to stop and craft bullets all the time. And how would someone just stop and make some bullets? I dont think I was saying it should be unlimited, just have them lying around like the other stuff. Theres loads of cut scenes? Every mission has quite a few. I dont know what you mean by technical perspective? Pixels or something? I wouldn’t say its the benchmark. Good costumes though, albeit impractical. Ok and open world... I thought it was marketed like that

And finally, this game is entirely go here and do something and head back to the train. Its exactly that. Sure theres some deviation in the fact the borders are wider, but its still exactly what you don’t like open world games for. Its even more based on that as you only end up going in one direction.

Anyway I can see you love the game, i just don’t think its as good as the other games like this. I don’t get why a Fallout or a Red Dead can both 1st and 3rd person while a game like like this is stuck in one perspective.

Oh, last really annoying thing - going through doors. Go to door - cut scene - doors shut - cant get back out without cut scene... why can’t you just walk through a bloomin’ open door?

Takes about 5 seconds to do and you shouldn't have to do it that regularly if your aim is decent.

You can pick up ammo for loads of guns along the way from killing enemies etc, but if you run out you can always create bullets for the Tikhar gun. Ammo shortage has never been an issue for me... I wish it was more of an issue tbh as id have to be more conservative with my shooting and choose when to engage and when to go stealth.

Do you mean quicktime events ? If so yes it has some of them, would rather it didn't but they seem to be the standard in gaming now.

Along with BFV its the current benchmark for graphics. Give this a watch

The things you mentioned liking about read dead (which I agree with) are more artistic choices rather than technical qualities.

Lazy journalism, it has some big playing areas, far bigger than in previous metro games which were set in claustrophobic tunnels/metro system but they always said it was never one giant open world, it was still a linear shooting but with more open ended levels than previously

It's really not. You do not have to constantly travel about the place to get missions. In games like Far Cry, Assassins Creed etc you spend tons of time just travelling about the place to the mission locations etc, its not comparable imo... Metro is far more linear and focussed.

Anyway I can see you love the game, i just don’t think its as good as the other games like this. I don’t get why a Fallout or a Red Dead can both 1st and 3rd person while a game like like this is stuck in one perspective.

I don't love it, I think it's the weakest game in the series but it still ticks all the boxes I want in a single player shooter. I think we just like completely different approaches to gaming because I hate third person games, they lack immersion, no sense of claustrophobia which is important in a game like this. I don't think any Metro fan would want third person, it would just ruin the entire premise of the game and go against all the design choices they've made. It's a first person shooter after all, can you imagine playing Half Life 2 in third person ? It would be lame.

Dunno, pretty minor thing to moan about though although I can see how it might annoy some people.

All good points mate. Watched that video and the differences between graphics nowadays are so minute - the guy just creams it up over 'punishing his PC' and the immersion into the world. All games do that - it's a personal viewpoint about what you like seeing. I find 1st person so limiting and less reactive - it's like only seeing part of the picture, and what you and that guy see as immersive, ie wiping the goggles I see as annoyingly repetitive. Its not like the goggles crack any differently, or the fogging animates differently, or the wiping action is different. It's the same action, the same crack, the same fogging. Over and over again.

I'll try to pick it up again later at some point. I might enjoy 1st person more on VR.

Gone back to destiny 2 for a FPS experience. Had the base game , stopped at the grind and now have the dlc pack to keep going.

What tempted me was playing Warframe. Great free game but got quickly tired of being put into parties and not being able to play the game properly.

Anyone else played the forsaken dlc?

Mate at work absolutely loves it. I always see him playing it online.

Not my cup of tea at all.
