Computer games.

Fire Emblem is a different beast mate. It's a tactical JRPG. Also happens to be one of the best games I've ever played in Fire Emblem: Awakenings on the 3DS.

Highly recommended. Just... don't play it on permadeath first; it's brutal.
So that is another to add to the list haha

Think I’m going to finally give up WoW for a short period of time since it’s just not the same (hopefully Classic is as good as I hope). So going to treat myself to my first game purchase in about 4 years!

Anyone recommend one of these over the others?

  • Baldur’s Gate Enhanced (PC)
  • Planescape: Torment (PC)
  • Divinity: Original Sin II (PC or XO)
  • Pillars of Eternity (PC or XO)

I’m looking for something within the WoW/Neverwinter Nights/Diablo scene.

That on PC is the best of that selection.

They're all good though.

I’m still plodding through RDR2.
Very much harder mate.

They’re just much more realistic for rallying (apparently...I’ve never driven a rally car!).
But they’re much more rewarding I reckon. Like I finished 12th in a stage last night but was made up as I didn’t make a horrific error once.

They start you off easy on old crap cars which seem a lot easier but as soon as you get in anything powerful they’re all over the place. As they would be in real life.

Basically you can’t just hit the accelerator and go. It’s all about feathering your accelerating and that.

It’s very hard!
I hammered Dirt 2 and ended up finding the top difficulty too easy so that sounds good. I played Dirt 3 but I hated those gymkhana events so much I stopped playing it.

It’s waaay different to those. But reckon if you found Dirt 2 too easy on Hard you’ll be alright at Dirt Rally.

I concentrate harder on that game than I do at work ffs. One tiny mistake and that’s it. All over.

Finished Far Cry New Dawn. Really enjoyed it, apart from the ending.

Metro Exodus next.
Ha, as mentioned a few pages back, I'm also planning on starting Metro Exodus now I've finished Far Cry New Dawn. I also thoroughly enjoyed it - loved FC5 and put endless hours into it, so it was great to go back to the same map, and I think they did a great job. I think the final boss battle was more than a bit odd, and I think it would have been better to have ended it on the previous one (which is where I expected it to end). It doesn't help that I'm really not brilliant at games (I enjoy them, but I'm just not very good), so would have welcomed it ending where I thought it would as I struggled a bit on that last boss battle. They could even have switched around the last two boss battles and it may have worked better. And to think that at one stage I was planning on sticking with level 3 weapons and not upgrading them to elite... but in the end I opted for the grind to upgrade them.

I will keep on playing it for a bit as there are some side missions, challenges etc I've yet to do, but on the whole I thought it was great, and the two games in Hope County have been the most immersive in the FC series, IMO. I'm surprised at some people whinging that it should have been a DLC, as it's way too big for that and really is a fairly substantial game on its own - and it's not as if it's an AAA-priced game (currently it's £30-35). A couple of observations: (i) the saw launcher seems pretty underwhelming when you first get it, but once it's at level 3 and elite is a mighty thing to have when you're being swamped by enemies. (ii) The Judge is worse than a man short - he looks the part, but really is as awful a gun for hire as there is. Also, I found out a quick and easy way to get hold of circuit boards:

Just outside of Prosperity there's a small lake, where a monstrous bison appears. Kill it with your bow (The Judge also uses a bow, so take him with you if you have him, for what he's worth). But only kill it with a bow and you'll get double the circuit boards (of course killing it with guns etc is also fine, just remember you'll get less value from the skin). This animal has re-spawned every time I've gone to that spot, and made the grind for rare materials so much easier. Ideally your bow should be at least level 3 to do this without a drama, and remember to target the glowing weak spot on the bison.

How is the second one? I have dirt rally, doing a clean stage in an 80's monster with my wheel is the most difficult thing I've done in a game.

There’s some subtle differences in the second one that I really notice.

It looks a bit nicer but the main thing I notice is the road degradation of you place lower. Makes so much difference.

It might be ever so slightly easier than the first one too. Maybe!

I can tell you now it won't be difficult - it'll simply be challenging.

There's no unfair difficulty whatsoever in the Souls games. Every time you fail it's only your own fault.

It frustrates me that so many don't get these games because they're intimidated by a false assumption on what they are. I don't blame you like as I had the exact same issue, but it really does suddenly just click.

I just find memory based games like that massively tedious. Rather than get through new encounters based on your skill, you have to 'learn' the moves of each enemy, which can only be done by dying repeatedly to them. I don't like easy games, I just don't find that kind of mechanic rewarding.

Obviously they're hugely popular so they must appeal to a lot of people. I just find them really dull.
