He hasn’t really.

Had Salah tucked that chance away it would have been 100% the fault of Morgan, whom set the chance up with a careless pass backwards when near the halfway line.

And Morgan allowed Matip to just stroll past him, in slo mo, when the latter went in that “mazy run” from which the RS squandered another presentable chance.

Picking carthorses like Morgan over thoroughbreds like Gomez will keep us among the also rans in perpetuity.
Everybody makes mistakes. As I said, I sort of agree but can't argue with the results. Gomez is absolutely a more creative player but with our forward line maybe trying not to concede firstly is the best plan.

Rob, you seem to forget we have suffered many heavy defeats with Schneiderlin in the team.

Apart from a few good performances in his first few months here he has offered next to nowt....he neither stiffens the midfield, provide cover in defence or a goal threat up front.

He is just awful.

I’m sorry but Schneiderlin isn’t better than him. One good game against Cardiff doesn’t magically make him a good player ffs.

So many people spent so much time moaning about playing 2 DM’s but suddenly beating a team that’s going to be relegating and drawing with Liverpool exonerates that?

Morgan had a decent game vs Cardiff. I thought he was average to poor vs Liverpool. The man refuses to do the basics required of a controlling midfielder. I think it's confidence and I feel for him.

But to even suggest that he is even in the same league as Gomes is the very definition of unbelievable.

Gomes is the very best we can attract at this time. Couple of mates who I watched the game with Sunday said he's arguably too good for us. I mentioned his fluctuating form as a factor which would suggest that isn't true but my God, he's fantastic when in full flow.

We must sign him if are going to actually start progressing.

Wow, are people really stating a case for Schnides to stay in ahead of Gomes? Surreal!
It was clear Gomes needed a break. There has been the natural break with being out of the cup and he has also been rested for a couple of games. I know it was only a cameo but he looked more like himself when he came on against Liverpool. He's a confidence player and perhaps the fantastic crowd support aided that. But for me he is ready to return to the team.

The fact that he's had this dip in form may also be a blessing in disguise. I still want us to sign him in the summer and there will now be less competition, and also Barca will be less likely to haggle too much over the price. £20m is doable I reckon.

Gomes oozes sexual class. He’s had his ups and downs but he’s a player that has only been in the Prem a short while so can’t exactly demand consistency. While also the team he struggled for form. I reckon he can only
get better once he’s properly settled and we strengthen the team.

Seem to remeber him being arsed and playing well for a couple of games at the end of the last season. Just enough to make you start to belive “he might actually try next year” then back to being the unprofessional , lazy, French , coward we all now he is
