‘We’re safe’ Being safe from relegation wasn’t the aim for the season. He’s been an utter disgrace. He’s far worse than Martinez and Koeman, which says a lot.
And to think people thought he was Mourinho Mk 2. Simply appalling manager who fails to learn from his mistakes and doesn't take responsibility for his team's results. I desperately hope Moshiri pulls the trigger after the Huddersfield defeat.

Win, lose or draw he adopts that pose though.

You seen when we scored yesterday how passionate he is.

Our players love all this stuff about managers being the issue...it's hidden for the best part of the last 5 years that THEY are the problem at Everton. I;d expect a ruthless and clear headed DoF to be swarming all over this and laying down the law and backing his coach up. Instead, Brands is MIA.

As a club we’ve been mentally weak for a fair while now, and I agree, I would hope Brands behind the scenes is kicking a few arses.

I’ve said Silva should be given the rest of the season, spend money in the Summer, then see how it is after the first 10 games of next season. I’ve just got this little niggle now though about Silva’s mental strength and his ability to rally when things are going tits up (I know it’s not just down to him to do this) and that has got me wondering if he is the right man.

For me those tough home games will be the test.

So many problems last night, not enough creativity, inability to get the ball to stick up front, individual battles lost across the pitch, moving the ball far too slowly, not enough movement - plenty of blame to go around for these failings.

But ultimately we’ve lost that game due to an inability to defend set pieces all game which falls squarely in the coaching department.

Sure it’s been put in here already, but this picture shows utter defensive incompetence - poor shape, no marking, players drawn to the ball, players not knowing their job.

The players feel they know they have time on their side: that a slide will see them get their way, and another manager who makes them work hard will be down the road.

Brands is the key here. He has to be in lock step with Silva this summer and get anyone who cant or wont hack it off the club's books. For me it;s Brands' responsibility to change the cultural attitude here, Silva gets to coach those players who WANT to work with him. That's the division of labour as I see it.

Going to be another tough summer. What Spanish team will pay a 1/5 Sandros wage for example. Then you have Bolasie, Scheiderlin, Tosun amongst others. Going through the squad and how many are offering value for money on wages and transfer fees? I think Brands has a decent track record of finding gems for PSV with little money and he's going to need to replicate that to give Silva the tools to do his job. In the meantime Silva needs to find a way of getting what he can out the current shower and make zonal marking work, or even better, drop it all together.

Better than Silva by miles.

I don’t understand why do you try to argue about the trophies they won. You are basically saying Benítez and Pelligrini = Howard Wilkinson, Walter Smith and Martin O’Neill.
No. You said we should get in a top quality manager. And the 2 names you came with were pellegrini and Benitez.
I don't want either. Not that hard to understand

I'd give him until the end of the season and then re-evaluate. If we've shown no improvement then to be honest I wouldn't give him any time next season its not like there weren't big questions over his appointment in the first place. Those questions remain unanswered and overall I can't say i've been impressed.

No I said we need top proven manager and even Newcastle and West Ham got superior manager than us having Silva. Yea stick with him and get beaten by West Gam and Leicesiter at home. “Progress”. Have fun.

You are talking bulls. And I have given names about a top proven manager before. Conte, Jose. These are winners.

My main worry is also that we keep trying to battle teams.

Yesterday we should have gone and tried to play football. I appreciate the conditions were abysmal etc, and we'd have had to show grit whatever, but we didn't try to exert any authority on the game, which is what good teams do.

It stands to reason that anyone rated by people on here ‘a top manager’ is already employed somewhere else, so it has to be somebody who’s been recently sacked. Does that mean we should go after them? Or risk upsetting the FA again by poaching someone? Apart from Conte (obvious candidate) what other ‘top’ managers are currently unemployed?

I will be satisifed if we end this as one of the crap seasons we had under Moyes. They happened regularly btw, we would end in 13th place and be happy about reaching 40 points. Just lets avoid any of this relegaton panic crap that had us hiring Allardyce
How many times did we finish 13th under Moyes? That statement of yours is is just wrong.
Get your facts straight.

Mourinho. Wenger. Heynkes. Zidane.

Because we can’t. We don’t have the players to outplay teams. The midfield is not good enough and the defence cannot distribute the ball effectively.
