Fair enough if it's true, but do you have a link or something that proves it?

And again, Silva has an additional 80 million pounds worth of defensive talent at his disposal in comparison to last season. In total, Silva has an additional 140 million pounds worth of talent at his disposal in comparison to last season.

Thank Christ Watford knocked us back when Moshiri wanted him to take over from Koeman, as he would have taken us down.
Do I have a link? Really?

Our net spend under Silva wasn't 140 million.

Beyond that, yes, Digne has helped. Zouma has, too. Mina is a project. Keane is playing better even though I'd sell him in the summer ASAP if it wasn't for homegrown rules. Would also not buy Zouma. But is that just the players or Silva's coaching? Dunno.

As soon as they feel hard done by, they go into sulk mode. They need to learn to use it to their advantage.

And seriously bin off zonal marking...

Well, yes, if someone is saying that we had the worst defence in the league last season, then I think people would want to know where that information has come from. Its not a very well known stat if it is true.

We spent 80 million in the summer. 50 million of which went on improving the defence. Zouma has a value of about 30 million imo, Gomes has a similar value as well. Add that to the massive 80 million pounds that he was able to spend, and he has an additional 140 million pounds worth of talent at his disposal in comparison to last season.

If you are going to compare Silva to the Koeman period, then he has an additional 190 million pounds worth of talent at his disposal with the additions of Walcott and Tosun.

He looks a beaten man at the moment but why he keeps trying the same things over and over is beyond ludicrous.

He gets until the end of the season, barring disaster, as he should, and then we evaluate then.

People starting to turn.

Crap performance after crap performance with the inability to defend.

These past few squads have been the weakest mentally I can remember for ages. Under Moyes if we hit a rut and the fans got restless you’d know that the next game we’d come out absolutely fighting, think that City game at home after we went out of the cup to Wigan. These last few squads though, as soon as one thing goes wrong they go into a downward spiral so bad that they can’t even make simple passes to each other. Then they start to blame the fans and it doesn’t end until the manager gets fired.

It's not just about money.. The top managers can pick the jobs the want. The real top ones won't come near us. That's the way it is.

On papers Newcastle and West Ham got a superior manager than us, having Silva. Those decide to join some 5th rate club. Managers or players it’s all about money.

He's far from a one trick pony, but he doesn't have the personnel to play the way he would like. He's played with 3 at the back, he's gone 4-4-2.

How BAD must Schneiderlin be for him to not play his 4-3-3? He can't play his 4-3-3 with two pivots because he only has Gana, who isn't really the right type to begin with.
Perhaps 'one trick pony' was somewhat overstating the matter, however I do stand by the point that he's currently showing a lack adaptability and versatility.

Like I mentioned earlier, I fully understand that managers have a certain style of play that they prefer but there must be a degree of flexibility in their approach.

In the mainstay, we're playing a very similar formation week in, week out, which isn't working; when we concede, he then regularly goes to a 4-4-2 approach.

So because his desired 4-3-3 approach isn't yet ready, it excuses our results? Why does he not adapt from our current approach when it clearly isn't working?

I'm not saying there isn't mitigating circumstances such as players under performing, not having his preferred players and some of the dross left by others et al.

However, and it's a big however, at some point we've got to objectively look at what Silva is doing with what is available to him and make a fair assessment.

My point is that a good manager should be able to adapt (at least to some extent) to what he has available and make the best of it. I question whether Silva is...

For a number of reasons, I'm still an advocate of giving Silva time although he must start making some changes because his rigidity is looking somewhat worrying.

I have just read Silva's comments on VAR, at one point in the interview he said we had 8 players in the box and they saw the hand ball, why didn't the referee. If I was a manager and I had eight players in the box and the goal scorer was standing on his own waiting on an opportunity then my anger wouldn't be directed at the referee. He also said he thought hand ball wasn't allowed in football, he should be thinking having 8 players in the box not being arsed defending should not be allowed at his club.
I would have more respect for him if he had addressed the realities of yesterday, they did get a goal which shouldn't have been allowed but we didn't deserve to win.

Under Moyes we had determination and organisation but lacked quality
Under Silva he is making basic errors, every set piece we are vunerable.

Opposition floats in a cross, a player heads it on, (rendering the zonal marking useless) and the opposition player gets onto it and slots it in, as our defenders are static and still dealing with the first head on.
