To be honest Silva is lucky he come after fat sam otherwise the people who are defending him wouldn't be by now. Said all along I want him to do well and deserves a few transfer windows but after yesterday I've changed my mind. No good manager in the world allows his team to concede 3 or the same goals in a game. He did and it's happened all season it's beyond worrying. Sam doesn't concede goals like that and we can't even say well we're more attacking under Silva because theblast few months we haven't been that either

Perhaps 'one trick pony' was somewhat overstating the matter, however I do stand by the point that he's currently showing a lack adaptability and versatility.

Like I mentioned earlier, I fully understand that managers have a certain style of play that they prefer but there must be a degree of flexibility in their approach.

In the mainstay, we're playing a very similar formation week in, week out, which isn't working; when we concede, he then regularly goes to a 4-4-2 approach.

So because his desired 4-3-3 approach isn't yet ready, it excuses our results? Why does he not adapt from our current approach when it clearly isn't working?

I'm not saying there isn't mitigating circumstances such as players under performing, not having his preferred players and some of the dross left by others et al.

However, and it's a big however, at some point we've got to objectively look at what Silva is doing with what is available to him and make a fair assessment.

My point is that a good manager should be able to adapt (at least to some extent) to what he has available and make the best of it. I question whether Silva is...

For a number of reasons, I'm still an advocate of giving Silva time although he must start making some changes because his rigidity is looking somewhat worrying.
I agree with you mate. I've been of the "give him time" persuasion but starting to question it now. Surely more can be got out of that group of players. I do worry about the consequences of sacking yet another manager though and the message it would send to anyone we went after to replace him, as well as the damage the lack of continuity would do to an already disjointed squad.

They haven't got top class managers.
West ham are 1 point ahead of us in the league and got knocked out by Wimbledon yesterday.
You said top quality. They ain't.

They both having far superior records than Silva. That is fact. Look at the trophies they won throughout their career.

And the fact Newcastle got Benitez was a bit of an anomaly. He wanted a job in England and that was one available, and Geordies are similar to kopites. I don't think when Benitez leaves they'll find a replacement in the same class.

I’m impressed with the comments from Pelligrini after the West Ham defeat yesterday. He blamed his own players for their lack of application particularly in the first half. He also applauded the application and attitude of the Wimbledon team who he said wanted it more.... unlike Silva who should have been saying the same kind thing and more importantly putting himself under scrutiny for weekly poor performances and weak game management.

I have just read Silva's comments on VAR, at one point in the interview he said we had 8 players in the box and they saw the hand ball, why didn't the referee. If I was a manager and I had eight players in the box and the goal scorer was standing on his own waiting on an opportunity then my anger wouldn't be directed at the referee. He also said he thought hand ball wasn't allowed in football, he should be thinking having 8 players in the box not being arsed defending should not be allowed at his club.
I would have more respect for him if he had addressed the realities of yesterday, they did get a goal which shouldn't have been allowed but we didn't deserve to win.

That’s the thing mate, lads can go on about the handball all they want, but for me the focus and concern should be on the atrocious defending for their goals.

Silva "We have to be more mature taking the responsibility on the pitch because at this level with the players we have working here at the club, after scoring one goal in 44 minutes and after one [Millwall]-kick off the line we have conceded one goal like we conceded."

I mean what the feck does that even mean Marco. It is just bollox and responsibility shifting. Being mature has nothing to do with the team still being unable to defend, unable to pass, unable to create and unable to put a full shift in. I would be happy to have 11 immature players on the field if they put a full shift in and knew what they were doing and were good at it. And as for taking responsibility, blaming a hand ball and lack of maturity is you not taking responsibility as we have been absolutely clueless for the past 2 months and haven't learnt from any of our mistakes and we didn't deserve to win yesterday even if the handball had been given.

Going to be a long and frustrating last 15 games of the season this by the looks of it.

Literally read Pellegrini's comments two minutes ago and couldn't agree more with you. Upsets can happen in the cup, we all know that, but his reaction to it shows you the kind of manager he is. Silva, all he could do is moan and find excuses. He is a loser and that mentality has filtered down into every single one of his players.

I posted a note after watching Silva on September 1st in the 1-1 home draw with Huddersfield. I said he was clueless and should not have been appointed as Everton Manager. I watched him again at Brighton in the 1-0 defeat and he had not changed. At the Amex he disappeared to the rear of the dugout for several minutes whilst the game continued with Everton a goal down. Like the Huddersfield game he delays making decisions about formations and substitutions consulting sheafs of paper. He shows little involvement with the team from the technical area whilst a match is under way. He remains clueless, out of his depth shows no passion or discipline and unless he is dispatched Everton will struggle to stay in the Premier League. After yesterdays performance v Milwall and looking at our remaining fixtures how can anyone continue to believe he has the ability, skills and character to rescue this miserable season. Stop worrying about what others may think about the Everton managerial turnover and who comes next, just get rid of Silva and quickly.
