Well I'm sure you watched the match , would you not say that "basic defending in the box" should be one of those?

But, no, I'm sure you are right. It is alllll on the players.
Mate seriously. Today showed its all on the players. Zonal marking wasn't the problem today, the problem was players not doing zonal marking correctly. But look, you think the manager is the problem. That's fine. But within the past 4 years 4 managers have been the problem (5 if you include Silva) yet the players get away Scott free or fall under the excuse of "just not good enough". Regarding your initial point anyways, there was nothing I seen in today's match from silvas tactics that was over complicated which cost us the match. The players cost us the match.

I wouldn't say he did well at West Ham, he did okay. They didn't offer him the job, did they? It was a fairly uninspiring relegation scrap, really.

At Sociedad, he was fired and the team were lingering in the relegation spots. That was obviously a disaster.

Obviously, he got Sunderland relegated - difficult circumstances, yes, but it's still on his CV.

He took over Man Utd at a time of huge transition, but he racked up their lowest ever premier league points tally & couldn't even manager a Europa spot with a team which had won the league the previous season.

My main gripe with Moyes is that he doesn't have a winning mentality - he has a surviving mentality. I'll never forget the FA Cup final against Chelsea when we bagged an early goal and then went backs up against the wall for 85 minutes.

Was longer than 85mins 89 mins 33 secs

Mate your saying it’s the players? 6 of the back 5 have been here 18momths or less . They’re his choice , and they can’t do the system he wants. Now do we be stubborn and keep the system or change the system to suit the players ? I would say change the system, we don’t have defenders that are good on the ball and anyone that can zonal Mark, we don’t have a single striker that can play lone striker , Coleman can’t cross but is meant to be the main man in this system that provides width along with digne , we get possession , then our cb go to lb and rb , then our two Cm drop to cb and then we can’t even get out of our own half. The formationos gash, the tactics are crap the defending is shocking and the set piece defending is the worst I have ever seen . All this and Silva won’t change it and doesn’t know how to make his crap ideas work

Mate none of any selection of players we have had/have have done well for the past 5 managers, end of.

Edit. And under each of those 5 mangers we've played differently and mixed it up. Still didn't work.

Mate we can’t defend set plays , and how many times have we been done by balls over the top? Heaps we also have been cut through and Pickford 1 on 1 heaps . We can’t defend in any manner at all, and this is with two DM that’s coaching, tactics and system also tried 3 cb which doesn’t work either

Most of the blame can't all be on Marco. The real mess was already done by Steve Walsh (and Koeman to a certain extent) who signed complete misfits that didn't make sense. Schneiderlin? Sigurdsson? Bolasie? Tosun? Keane? Sandro?

That said - its interesting the players Marco left out. Besic? A bit injury prone, but when healthy is a solid player. Vlasic? Good squad player. Haven't seen Baningime? Holgate? Maybe rather than signing new players, they could at least look into recalling some Everton players if possible?

The signings made this year by Brands and Marco have been fine, certainly better than in the past. Richarlison, Digne, Zouma, Gomes, Bernard have all contributed.
