Rhino is far from the answer.
Disappointingly, he proved that last season.
The difference between u23 and the Premier League was way to big for him to bridge.
Long term answer, absolutely not.

Short term to stop the rot under Silva and buy us time to find the right manager to come in in the summer? Not so bad. He'd be 10m cheaper than Sam was to keep us up, and that is our only objective now this season.

Silva needs gone asap and we're not going to find a long term replacement at the drop of a hat.

Do you remember Southampton away last year, do you remember the photo of the back line

John Stones springs to mind as he was one of his last signings.

At Sunderland he had nothing to spend. All the summer signings had already been lined up, so he was scrambling around for frees/cheap transfers like Big Vic.

Even Oviedo and Gibson were only signed to make up for the sale of Van Aarnholt to Crystal Palace, and they only spent half of that fee.

To see just how bad a financial situation Sunderland were in, watch that Netflix documentary

I've seen it mate, but my point is, he's being hyped up on here as the man who works miracles on a shoestring. He used to be able to do that, but not in the current market. Don't forget - he still spent about £3m on Gibson and roughly the same on Oviedo, they weren't free transfers.

Why all the hostility towards "up and coming" managers, but admiration for dinosaurs like Moyes?

Just because Silva isn't working out and he's deemed to be up and coming, it doesn't follow that we shouldn't have a young manager who wants to build something, rather than an old one who probably just wants a retirement payday.
It is not hostility per se, but there aren’t any at the moment who really stand out. Even the better ones are too early in their development, such as Jones at stoke or Lampard at Derby.

Moyes, lest we forget, was very progressive and brought us forward a lot. He made the most of what he had and modernized the club in many ways, such as our scouting setup.

If there is a better option then I’m all ears, but out of the people currently available he looks the safest bet. He also has something to prove, and gave a good account of himself at West Ham last season. Has Pelligrini done any better, with an extra 100M of players?

I just don't think it works, working as a number 2 here first would be better. I would like to see our next boss having some connection with Everton, so then there's not much choice. Moyes,Arteta, Unsworth

I remember our back line today and in most games this season. So what's the difference? At least be crap under Rhino than this mercenary who downed tools at Watford when he got the sniff of a bigger payday.

I am very much hoping to hear that brands has been sounding out several candidates over the last few weeks / months after seeing that Marco is highly ineffective as a manager.

Guess we'll find out soon enough

I agree. At the same time, they got 15M for PVA, so you can see what the setup was like at the Stadium of Light. Put it this way, if they utilized the setup so Moyes and Brands work in tandem it could be a good thing. Brands and Moyes running the rule over player should in theory produce above average results.

But he couldn't do any worse than silva could he?
Everton though have been a to big if a jump from Wigan,Southampton and Watford, the pressures to much we need someone who can handle that and be able to fix thingquick when things aren't going well. Silva is festering like Martinez and a Koeman did and had to go.
