Two players sold - one for a knock down price. 17 loaned out, depreciating in value.

It isn't good, please dont pretend it is.

The contracts offered out to these players under previous administrations have been downright negligent, giving Brands the near impossible task of moving very average players onto below average clubs, who simply won't break their wage structures in order to fork out 120k p/w for a Schneiderlin or a Sandro, irrespective of the transfer fee they would typically command. The fact he managed to get Villa to pay the whole 80k of Bolasie's weekly wages was miracle enough.

Loaning them out with an option to buy and moving them out in the next financial year helps massively with FFP and our short term cost control, amortisation of players' values etc. We're not selling because we need the money to reinvest (we're still absolutely tilled mate), but solely to balance the books and keep squad numbers down.

Ok, I'll answer for you:

2 sold
17 loaned out / free transfer

That's utterly pathetic.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say Brands understands financial restrictions better than any of us and is using loans to manage our finances instead of selling players at a loss.

The real fraud here was Walsh. Yes Moshiri hired him, but he also gave him the sack and replaced him with a fellow who has given us Digne, Zouma, and Gomes.

The best thing about the last few pages is Dave thinking he knows what's better for a club's finances both short and long term than someone with years of experience who's full time job is to manage that part of the club. Even if Brands messes it up it won't be because he didn't know more than Davek.

Why would you sell players when you can loan them out and their value increases? Was loaning out Vlasic a bad idea? Onyenkuru? Dowell? Holgate? Heck, no.

For others, we weren't getting a fee. Williams, Martina, Mirallas, etc.

Incidentally, from a FFP standpoint, a loan deal is smart even for those with minimal value. One more year to amortize the transfer fee.

Oh no. Apparently that means Brands is hopeless at his job because he can’t sell them for profit, bring in better players for cheaper and have them playing at Roberto levels of phenominal.
