The GM last night indicates that we're not going to sign anyone.

Well, think Brands just reiterated his point from the other day, didn't he?

I've said myself that the comments frustrated me a bit, but they didn't surprise me. I think that if a deal's there and we can offload some players, we will do. But no major revamps.

Which is why I can't see us selling Gana. Because that would need a major revamp and neither Brands or Silva seem keen to try that now.

Makes you wonder doesn't it? The only thing I can think of that's been constant during these changes of players and managers is how the crowd react, and how quickly they become defeated and silent at best, or toxic at worst.

Perhaps we need to remember to 'support'. Encouragement and confidence are the 12th man.
To be fair, games like West Ham and Spurs at home the crowd has really got behind them when they're losing, but they've still not produced the goods. There's also the rather pertinent point that our away form is consistently awful despite our away support being absolutely magnificent. So in short, it's not the fans fault.

what lunatic is on an everton forum thinking where talking about a bent who never played for us rather than one who did

Yeah because nobody ever talks about players who haven't played for everton on here. When people start talking about "bent banging in the goals". You've obviously never watched football if you start thinking about Marcus bent.

Think Besic might get a move, tbh.

Kev's out of contract in 2020 so aye, he'll be a struggle to move on. See if we can get £3m for him or something.

Bolasie is gonna be an issue. I really did like him when we signed him, and was hoping that injury didn't ruin him. It has, unfortunately.

Martina also has another year so we're best just doing what we can with him n'all. Sure there'll be another loan if nothing else. Not sure on Pennington, seems to be a poor Champ level player tbh. Williams is thankfully going to be out of contract I believe.

Sandro - the weird thing is Silva likes him. Wanted to keep him even at the end of the summer. He let him go because he knew he needed games though and at that point Tosun hadn't forgotten how to play. I'm sure we'll have to try ship him off, but his wages are massive.

Vlasic - I hope there's a place for him, honestly. I think he can give us that ball carrying option that our attacking midfield lacks. Whether we sign Gomes or not, I do think there's a future here for him. I've been impressed when I've watched him in the CL this season (think I've done three CSKA games). Same for Onyekuru, I think his pace would be a real benefit to us, especially if we're looking to move two or three of Walcott, Niasse and Tosun on (not convinced we will look to sell Walcott).

Didn't mention Williams for that very reason. We never have to think about him ever again.

I really don't think Silva does like Sandro.

I see no place in the squad for Vlasic, if we claim to be wanting to fo where they want. But at least he seems to be having a successful loan spell. As much as I think some over rate him, at least he's trying.

None of the others are. Literally none of them. Not exactly looking great for potential buyers.

I don't include Onyekuru as he's not ever kicked a ball for us. Not even sure he ever will.

On the Sandro thing, I'm only going off what Joyce and - I believe, but I could be wrong - King said in the summer. That Silva was keen for him to stay but did sanction the move.

Fair enough on Vlasic. I don't think he's brilliant, but I do see a talent there. I think the thing for him is adapting to the pace of the Prem - he just doesn't seem quick enough to play on the wing, so that then leaves us having to play him centrally. So it's whether he fits in there I suppose.

Yeh, agree on the rest.

I've seen Onyekuru play twice - or maybe three times - and he did the typical young, quick forward thing of drifting in and out of games. Got an assist or two in one the games, IIRC.

I think for Vlasic, and maybe even Bernard to play at their best they probably need to play in the positions that the Silvas occupy for Man City. The problem with that is you need a midfielder like Fernandinho to play the holding role and we just don’t have that. As soon as they go wide then their lack of pace makes it difficult to get the best out of them. We then end up in the situation we sometimes find ourselves in of pacey players on the flanks in Walcott and Richarlison but no creativity in midfield to get them into advanced positions. Conte’s 343 might be another way to go with Richarlison as the striker and Bernard plus another tucked in around him.

Why don’t we just sign players for the next window now like Munich have done with pavard and Liverpool in the past with keita etc

Surely now would be better to secure a deal to get Lozano in the summer ahead of other clubs
I thought he had agreed a summer move to Napoli?

My office is based in Basingstoke full of them and they all love him. Funnily enough they aren’t too fussed about Bale. Maybe it’s because realistically Theo could end up back there were Bale never will.
Saints look like selling Gabadinni back to Italy this window.
That would free up wages and leave them short on attacking options.
They could well be in for a forward i reckon.
