This club is a joke

Genuinely, what I would love every single Evertonian to do right now is demand more of the players and the owners. We aren´t just some no mark team in England. We are one of the biggest and best clubs around but we´ve been left to rot for the last 30 years.

Anyone who tells you the Goodison crowd are hard to play in front of? Good. If the current crop of players can´t handle it then get new ones. Liverpool didn´t settle for Konchesky and Hodgson, for far too long we´ve put up with absolute dross being served in front of us. The breaking point probably came a long time ago but as a fan base we have tolerated this crap for far too long. Absolutely sick to death of it.

We can’t really do much about it though can we? Martinez seemed fine after 1 season, our fans gave him the benefit of the doubt season 2 and then made it clear he had to go season 3. Koeman seemed a decent appointment at the time, so did Walsh. It’s easy to criticise with hindsight but the club was making what it thought were the best decisions at the time.

Easy appointments. All of them were flavours of the month. Not one of them have been able to build upon what Moyes developed here, which let´s face it was a very good footballing team that the fans believed in.

You talk about hindsight but the amount of detractors on this forum alone towards Koeman and Silva tells you all you need to know.

There would be detractors on this forum towards anyone!

But when the club is making, what it thinks are the best decisions at the time, and keeps getting it wrong? Now Silva and Brands deserve at least two seasons to try and build something. But in the case of both Koeman and Silva, the club just went after the current in vogue, flavour of the month appointment.Likewise they sacked Koeman, with no proper replacement lined up, and they then left an out of his depth Unsy in charge for a month.

I just think we came into the money 5 years too late.Everyone has money now. We're basically spending just to keep up with the elite. It's just the way football is now.You have the likes of the big six sides, and we are finding it a struggle to break into that elite. We just badly need a trophy win, to try and establish ourselves as a force again.Hopefully when the stadium move goes through, than that will help us compete with the elite as well. But as it is 7th or 8th place is our glass ceiling. But i think the fans are right, to demand a nice brand of football to watch, and that we beat the likes of Newcastle and Brighton on a frequent basis.

No one has a crystal ball and can look into the future. Every team bar 2 can win it this year and every team below is inconsistent in its results every week. Were no different to the rest.

It's not even about winning things. It's about looking back on the season and having moments to remember like when Arteta smashed the ball into the Street End against Fiorentina. There is no belief around this club right now. We have been starved of anything to celebrate for what seems like an eternity to me. We can't even win a Derby match.

You know what, this forum what be a wash with gushing praise for anyone who could even begin to turn this club from the joke it has became to something respectable. You saw it under Moyes and you would see it again very quickly if the team at least showed some signs of progress.

I think you're being far too kind. We need to start demanding more of everything around the club if the money genuinely is there. No more pathetic signings like Walcott and Tosun, the club needs to start doing its research like Spurs did and bringing in players at low prices who can develop into superstars.

Is that difficult? Of course it is. But it is what is required.

The problem is that every year since 1987 we have gone backwards due to poor decision making and the gap to 'the rest' has widened and widened year on year. Then we have the 'nouveaux riche' added to 'the rest' which has pushed us even further back. Despite having no money, we managed to stay in touch with (and on occasion surpass) the rest during the Moyes years, but the gap is now so wide that despite significant investment in the playing squad over the last 3 years it is proving ever more difficult to close. Basically we got left behind and we can't catch up.

So that's where we are. What are we going to do about it ? Either get taken over by a multi billionaire or hope that Moshiri has a plan in place. But whatever happens or doesn't happen, the club is not a joke just because it can't immediately bridge the gap to the wealthier clubs above us. And its certainly not the fans fault for not being demanding enough; we are one of the most demanding set of supporters in the league.

It’s a symptom of the past 30 years mate. Kids on big contracts who get paid no matter what. Champions League dictating where players only want to go despite not being ready / showing they can boss this league. Poor managers sure - but no way the club can forsee how they’ll turn out in the end.

I understand what your saying and am sick to death of getting up in the middle of the night to watch what I see as players who consistently make bad decisions with the ball, especially today. But theres no recipe that creates that winning culture other than by chance.

You can't just say it's all down to chance. Decisions are there to be made good or bad. In my line of work I get called out on it and I'm sure you do too.

The whole club right now is drenched in failure. The only success I can think of since Moyes left is us selling our stadium out on a weekly basis, which in my mind is unbelievable given the standard of football significantly dropping in that time.

Different ballgame now. Your saying it’s about what.. a feeling? The difference between failure and success is winning, but you say it’s not about winning. Ofcourse in the real world you do your job and if it stuffs up you cop it. This is a different beast though. We hit the bar twice against Brighton and if they go in its 2 on the bounce and a bright outlook to 2019.
