A striker who can regularly score breeds confidence in other players to get on the score sheet.
yeah that's BS mate we need players who can actually finish properly, Richarlison scores now, but it's not breeding confidence into the other players, they look scared of the ball and the goal most of the time.

But surely if the front 4 as you say aren't scoring then bringing in a striker will change that as we would be looking to bring in someone who is better than what we have.

Its really only Bernard and Walcott who haven't contributed to the goals. Richarlison and Gylfi should both be in for double figures (I'm not saying that's enough btw)
If we have any desire to crash the top 6, then our approach going forward needs to change as it is far too weak at the moment, we create numerous chances but very few are ever actually on target. People who say 'well we have Richarlison and Gylfi, we just need a striker' we need more than 3 decent options if we are ever going to do anything.

He's been anonymous the last four games, just when I thought we were beginning to see the best of him,Everton that;):(

But what mistakes is Silva making?

Tell me?

Because as far as I can tell he isn't making many. We've looked by and large, solid, until the last few games. We're creating chances.

So his system is working. We don't pass for passings sake. We're the best team at winning the ball back in the final third in the league - Christ, look how many times we did it yesterday!

A managers job is to win games. The fact is he's not improved our record against the top 6 and he's dropped points to all the sides around us, he's even slipped up at home against gash like Newcastle and Huddersfield who are in a relegation scrap.

Do Watford, Wolves etc. Have better sides than us? How can they hammer teams 2-0/3-0 yet we cant?

The top sides also bounce back from dissapointing results, we all knew City would win yesterday after that defeat to Chelsea - hell under Moyes we would often have a dissapointing result but then beat a top 4 side the week after playing determined football. We lose to the RS and we go limp and slip up against Newcastle and Watford, why has the manager failed to have the side shooting out the traps in these games looking to smash them and make amends to the fans?

I certainty want Silva to get atleast until the end of the season but im far from impressed at this stage and think the fanbase have had their expectations dumbed down so much by a combination of Kenwright/Mosh expected losses and Alladyce/Koeman that they think we shouldn't be above clubs like Watford and Wolves depsite spending big money each transfer window.

So we’ve got no right to be upset with the current run of form because we aren’t Arsenal or Spurs (who also aren’t the best teams in the league).

What’s the point in this club then? Let’s just close up shop, we’re done.
It ridiculous the love in some of fans have got for this fella.

His premier league record is appalling.

I'm beginning to see why.

I would say this is his best group of players he's had to work with.

And he can't make it work.

We haven't even put a 90 min performance in yet.

I know we all want instant results but come on. He hasn't even been here half a season yet and it hasn't been that bad. If we were languishing above the relegation zone I would understand but we are around a bunch of teams I'd expect us to be at this point.

Think we've got to be patient as a fanbase, anyone who is just looking at the results is being too narrow minded. I know, in a transition season we should still be beating the teams we've drawn with, but that is the case every season, the club's mentality isn't one of winners yet, but it has slowly improved over the season. Our performances away at all the top 6 have been a lot of hope and just haven't been mirrored with the results. I mean if you were narrow minded you'd say, we've only scored one goal from open play in all those games. But that's not silva's fault is it? Yesterday was our poorest performance against one of the top 6, but we still could have had four goals, these weren't half chances we missed, they were 3 sitters from inside the box. Compare that to city, how many chances did they actually miss? Just the mahrez one where pickford saved you'd say as a really good chance they missed, and they nearly got an own goal.

Silva's set up is working, we're just not converting, pretty much every game we're creating enough to score 3 goals, but it's all to that lack of a top striker.
Compare our three and the prices we've paid, Tosun £22m, Niasse £13m and Calvert-Lewin £1m. £36m in total for three strikers, compare that to the rest of the top 6 and you'd be silly if you think straight away we should be higher than 7th. I set that as an ambition, but all of the top 6 have 3 or 4 attackers who have cost or are worth over £40m, with some worth double and treble those amounts. And we've been on par with all of them, but the price difference has shown. In previous years we've got better results there, but we've never matched these teams, we've gone there and defended for 90 minutes and relied on a bit of luck just to get a draw.

We'll pull away from the teams around us and they're not really that comparable because of our stature. Teams like newcastle come to us and set up with 11 men behind the ball and come for a point, teams like wolves are obviously going to find it easier because teams go there to have a go and actually try and win. If they have a few good seasons, teams will go there to shut up shop and they'll see how much harder it then is.

Seriously?

So if Utd signed our best player off us for £50 million (and our manager) they would be happy being around us in the table? As we are level with Watford despite spending massively more money than them.

Wolves are a newly promoted side.

Bournemouth have about 3 good players and none of them would be welcomed by our fans if we signed them.

West Ham - fair enough they appointed a top manager who has actually won stuff and they spent a fair bit in the summer

Leicester - again about 3 good players but we should be miles ahead after they lost Mahrez

Im actually annoyed at how fans expectations are this low.

Obviously we are not good enough to be in and amongst the top 6 at present - however we should be clear in 7th by a fair few points and beating those sides below us much more than what we currently are doing.
