Wolves will mostly go above us tonight and Leicester...

WOLVES
And it won't matter in 3 weeks. People get way to caught up in the table when we effectively aren't playing for much. I want to make Europe but if we can't put out a second XI and get out of the group like Chelsea and Arsenal have then we honestly aren't ready for the extra matches.

Don't want to try and shoot you down mate, but I think 99% of all fans could say that coming home from The Etihad.

Formation was a gamble with 3 at the back, that said Richarlison scores and we are in front.

We made chances, more than we usually do there. Better finishing and a bit more concentration at the back and we might have scraped a draw.

I agree in hindsight and all that mate. The problem playing 5 at the back though is your full backs need to be bombing forward, I just knew with the quality they have out wide, and how their full backs like to get forward, that they would the majority of the time going to pin us back.

If that's the case then they'll also be ahead of 13 other teams too.

Need to stop worrying about other teams and just focus on ourselves. Results haven't been there of late but if the positives are pure and clear.

The only thing worrying me is the clear hangover we've had from that late goal against the RS - seems to have knocked the utter stuffing out of everyone.

4 1/2 months in charge

Obvious improvement on the pitch in both personnel and style, though not in results.

Calling for his head or making a completely negative judgement at this time could only be the work of a complete fool.

Pal I think he got to make the team to win at home against the lesser teams. Got to say he has no excuse not to do that even though I agree the overall attacking play is better. Defending is still a problem if not getting worse.

As has been said before, he needs to find a few "unexpected wins" between now and May. The profile of games we win is so limited and predictable, which then means we cant afford to fail in the home games we think we should be winning.

Starting at GP against Spurs would be nice but actually what I really want to see is a big improvement in our away form against sides outside of the top six.

It's really only the win at Leicester that made for a pleasant surprise so far and when that's the case, you realise just how bad the last few years have been.

But our away form has been woeful in general for many years.

We are going to have it tough to secure 7th, so we have to start winning away more often. But he does need a more significant scalp elsewhere as well, the next derby as a case in point.

The temptation here is to go after him for the formation switch but I think his defenders let him down more than the system and if we're being totally honest the game was kind of even and they finished better. They had three big chances and scored them while we had three and went one for three. That's the difference at the end of it despite the possession gap.

Means absolutely nothing that.

We're trying to do something completely different with still some of the same gutless no marks and people continuing to harp on about Allardyce doesn't help.

Why not compare at February or April or May. Why boxing day? No context whatsoever.

..I agree about changing to a different system, the transformation will take time. The comparison is interesting, though, given Christmas is seen as a key milestone in the season.
