He was an ideal squad man at the time 8-10 starts a year bring him off the bench when wanting something a bit different. Not the type of player who will whinge at not starting as long as he's involved. I would rather have Naismith than Niasse in hindsight but it seemed good business at the time. However where we are aiming now nowhere near good enough! Imagine Naismith, Klaasen and Hibbert in the same team it would be like when we had Gravesen, Carsley and Johnson!

He was an underrated player. Had really good intelligence for the role just off a main striker. What he lacked was general ability and pace to be a proper top level player.

For where we were at at the time, he was a solid squad option at all times and doesn't deserve to be mocked.
