He had 62 touches of the ball against Leicester – significantly seven of those were in his opponents’ penalty area – as Everton completed back-to-back league victories heading into the international break.

Bernard recovered possession 14 times – an effort matched in Premier League matches on Friday and Saturday only by Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves.

The lithe former Atletico Mineiro player emerged on top from eight duels – teammate Lucas Digne and Leicester’s Pereira the only players on the pitch who recorded higher figures – and won three free-kicks for his team.

I love this man

Sublime. Great player. The talent is there to see.

Even after one start and a couple of sub appearances, you can see his quality he won’t have any trouble adjusting to this league imo . He really is penear but with a better final ball, more pace, same work ethic , vision etc he looks on a different wave length to most of our team. Reminds me of Beardsley playing for us, he just looked a step above with his passing , movement and thought. Bernard and siggy are the two most intelligent footballers we have.

It's like watching a throw back to the best traditions of the nifty out-and-out winger. In this day and age we hype everyone to ridiculous levels, but my favourite football era was late 90s when you still had guys like Waddle, Anderton, Rod Wallace, Giggs, Ginola. I'd even lob in the likes of Nevin, Paul Allen, Strachan, Beardsley etc - who could all change games by being different. Le Tiss I think people admired in a similar vein.

Physiciality is a vital component of the game still but I think fans will always warm to guys who don't appear to be yet another gym-bunny, and who create through timing, touch and guile. He wandered past those lads for the cross and no-one was within yards of him!

Joy to watch. Well done Bernard.

I know it is a bit “when i were a lad” but time was every team in the top foight had a winger who could dribble with th ball. They all died off when pace became the be all and end all. To the extent that some top flight wingers (Tony Daley for example) had legs so fast they left their brain behind and the end product was so often disappointing. I am delighted to see an ‘old fashioned’ winger in the team. Insane pace isexciting no doubt, but so is seeing somebody slalom past defenders, and we now have both :)

If his feet weren't so quick he'd have won a penalty on Saturday when he was racing across goal and the Leicester player tried to intercept. The type of player that fans love and can hopefully spark a bit of life back into Goodison.
