Was it though? I mean we only beat them 2-1 with our first team out, so can we really say that swapping out £100m worth of international footballers for a couple of kids and someone making their first start for about 6 months left us with a good chance of winning? Our performance in the first half tells me that the team we picked absolutely wasn't good enough to beat Southampton.

Well considering we would have won if Michael Keane had put that header away, yes, I definitely think that XI was good enough to win

Moshiri has sacked:

Martinez - 11th and two semi-finals
Koeman -7th
Fat Sam - 8th

Why do the minority think he's going to accept merely finishing top 10 will be enough? It won't be and it shouldn't be.

Progression is what is needed, anything lower than 7th is not acceptable.

And the second season excuse will be second year syndrome.

Inappropriate Language
I want stability, too many recent managers since Moyes. But one day a manager of Everton Football Club will go "Shxt, we need a trophy here and I can be a hero"

players who finished 7,8th half asleep are out of the Club or old..it's a new team really and FS is not a manager to measure others with. He would finnish 8th with grimsby and real madrid
I'm pointing out that Moshiri has clear performance indicators and if they aren't met then he has shown he will make the decision to remove the manager.

I don't see a no mark like Silva being any different. He doesn't command respect from anyone within the game and thus far has been woeful here.

Yeah, we'll ignore all the chances they had and say we should have won the game because our centre half had a header from the edge of the box in the last minute, after we'd brought on the players that people are questioning leaving out in the first place. Faultless logic.

Smashing £28m on a cocked Yerry Mina looks worse and worse by the day. At this rate, we'd have been better off leaving it til Jan. That defensive of his is crying out for a real authoritative centre-half.

The most frustrating thing was the missed opportunity to build some momentum following the win at the weekend.

Dave, with respect, you don't know what Moshiri is thinking. Even Usmanov is recognising that we're very far from where we should be. Do you not think that comment is as a result of them two talking?

I wouldn't say it's a knee jerk reaction that a manager with a very, very poor record in the English game is now coming under increased scrutiny.

We literally put so much on the line to get Silva.

That doesn't mean he's not open to criticism, but barring a disaster he isn't going anywhere.

@davek is spot on. We need to build. Silva is here to do that.

This is just a flight of fancy. He's playing games. He's not involved here. And if he was he was referring to off-field matters anyway.

Let me remind you: we're SEVEN games into the Silva era - a man brought in to clean up the muck bequeathed to him.

Brands' fault.

It will be if we are completely changing the team, i dont know why you cant understand transition as an acceptable reason...look at klopp

really you shouldnt bother commenting because you have refused to give him a chance from the beginning, so your a comments are a bit of an irrelavance and i may suggest a motion that they are struck from the records

This is an excuse to do badly.

Huge sum had been spent on players for 3 seasons.

A manager is employed to get the best out of the squad while getting rid and adding to the squad at the same time.

Martinez got 5th Koeman got 7th Fat Sam got 8th all in their first season at the club so why Silva can be allowed to get anything lower than 8th after all these money spent?

I'm all for building and hopefully Silva manages to turn this woeful start to the season around, but anyone thinking this season is some sort of free pass for him are being very naive.

The owner has dispatched three managers in just over two years. Abramovic would be proud.

With respect, you clearly haven't got a clue either.

And it is definitely a knee jerk reaction as he isn't even into double figures as an Everton manager.
