He said in his interview we lack confidence.

The same was said by Koeman and previous to that Martinez

So why on earth are we still having this problem? Fed up of the same excuses and nothing being done about it.

This.
When the manager created a system is not efficient or asking the players to play in a system that is beyond their capabilities, confident will drain sooner or later.

Play the system that is best suited for us. Counter attack and nothing else. This team is not capable of back to front slow possesion buildup. Anything else will see the player struggle and we can’t blame them for lacking confident.

, .here is a fella that has been told to improve our premier league position. We finished 8th last season, so presumably he has to get 7th or this season is a write off and we are going backwards....again. Cup runs this year are not a priority for Silva...league position has to be. Dunno what some of you are going on about. He has a bitty team at present with a huge injury list, he has to play kids at times in case that injury list expands, Given our luck...it probably will. Give the man at least two seasons to see where this rabbit hole goes eh. His first window, he got rid of a fair few who shouldnt be anywhere near our club..brought in 3 players from Barca, A brazillian international and Bernie ( who all agree looks a class act )....another window like that and I will gladly clap him in 2019. It was a cup that would of been nice to win but I would prefer to be consistent in the league ...this year.

Top 10 slot and it's job done for Marco this season.

It's all about clearing the rubbish out like Baines and Jagielka etc and getting his style and first team choice in order.

We're on track.
Still think we need to maintain some consistency and be finishing 7-8 but exactly right, patience is needed. There's a lot of work needed on the squad that he inherited.

On the radio before the match he was quoted as saying he was not planning on wholesale changes, so why make 7 changes. He is really starting to peeve me off, and as expected cannot see anything much better in his management style than Martinez (2nd and 3rd season) and ruddy Koeman.

Not sure if you're on a wind up or not but... this is actually my opinion too. Transitional season where we can put some effort into one cup but not both, and the FA Cup is the far superior trophy.

But I've made my feelings on the League Cup known on here many times. I see it as a pointless waste of time and we should be open with disdain of it like Pochettino was last year.

As for Silva, I understand if you're frustrated with him tonight if for some reason you actually placed some importance on the League Cup. But you have to give him more time than a month or so before writing him off, and you have to allow him to manage the way he sees fit for a bit and see how it pans out before being strongly for or against him. That surely has to go without saying, or has everyones head fell off?
I wasn't winding anyone up.

I am 100% behind Silva.
I’m totally behind Silva at this point.

Perhaps last night was part of a learning curve for him at a club our size?

I do think he should’ve gone with the strongest team though, and we really should’ve pushed for this cup but it’s done now.

That XI on the pitch was good enough to win a home tie against Southampton, but the usual dazzling array of ridiculous mistakes cost us

I'm not pinning last night on Silva. The players let him, and all of us, down once again with yet another defensive horror show and some truly woeful finishing (In the penalty shoot out especially)

The only thing I'd grumble about was picking Stek. Aside from that, a lot of people on here (Myself included) wanted to see Bernard, Lookman and Dowell get some more minutes so it'd be churlish to complain when he gave us just that

The bloke needs time. Give him until the end of the January window at the very least please

Get him out.

He is an absolute disgrace. Who is this joker to come to this club and after two minutes being here thinks it’s okay to put out a weakened team against a team we should be beating at home? It’s not like we’re swimming in trophies, is it?

Hull and Watford are his last two clubs, you can see why.

Absolute tit. Embarrassed to support this mess of a club at the minute.

I don't know why, but I just keep getting this image in my head ?

Was it though? I mean we only beat them 2-1 with our first team out, so can we really say that swapping out £100m worth of international footballers for a couple of kids and someone making their first start for about 6 months left us with a good chance of winning? Our performance in the first half tells me that the team we picked absolutely wasn't good enough to beat Southampton.

still like him and think he'll do alrite, but no excuses for last night

had some very poor results this season, west ham Huddersfield and Southampton at home
literally giving 2 points away at Bournemouth,

hasn't started well at all imo
