Before I get overly critical of Marco, Khal, I'll wait and see how he suits up as a blue Santa in our vitally important Blue Chrimbo festivities. If him and Capt Jags and all the pixies and elves can bring a smile to all the folk in the orphanages, work-houses and debtors prisons liberally sprinkled about L4, then carpet-bagger Farhad's choice in manager will have been well vindicated.

Oh, I am not being critical of Marco, deip.

I don’t think for one moment he decided that this game tonight was “meaningless”.

It is certain posters round these parts whom glibly write this type of defeat off and presume to read the manager’s mind by stating that Marco regarded it as “meaningless” to whom I am referring.

I'm usually very arsed at being knocked out of a domestic cup, but not that much here tonight, tbh.

Leicester was winnable but not an obvious victory for us.

We need to get top 10 and our PL house in order.

next season for the cups.

It's all good lads. Marco will get us there. ;)

Top 10 and a derby win or two. ;)
...does such a thing even exist?

Silva wanted to win, second half we had our whole attacking unit on the field, more or less. Can't blame Stekelenberg for the goal and the fringe players who played didn't really do anything wrong.

It was ruthlessness which we lacked.

Get him out.

He is an absolute disgrace. Who is this joker to come to this club and after two minutes being here thinks it’s okay to put out a weakened team against a team we should be beating at home? It’s not like we’re swimming in trophies, is it?

Hull and Watford are his last two clubs, you can see why.

Absolute tit. Embarrassed to support this mess of a club at the minute.

Do us all a favor and do one then you cringy bed wetting beaut

I agree with you about the fringe players and the ruthlessness, thought we played well on the whole. Though I do think we should have played Pickford, stek's distribution was woeful and Pickford might have given us an advantage in the shootout.

I think such glib reconciliation serves merely as salve for wounded aspiration. When it comes to such, where Everton's concerned, I have next to nought to get wounded.

I don't agree with Goat tbf, I don't think Silva thought this was a meaningless game.

I just think he thought we'd be good enough to win it.

Spot on, Toff.

I am still in Portugal on vacation and was reading your posts pre match on my phone and could not comment on them though I think I gave “likes”.

I agree with you.....that team was fine by me tonight and was picked with winning in mind....with one exception,

Why was Stek playing?

We know he is a tube.....I saw the goal on Sky Sports over here and to me it looked well stoppable.

Pickford should have played.....there is no need to rotate goalkeepers in a fixture like this where we were always going to have the lion’s share of possession.

And if rotated he must be, then give the gloves to that young fellow to see how he reacts on the big stage.

We know Stek’s limitations and he is old so not going to improve.....though he seems to have done well in the shoot out.
