Spot on. We get zilch.

Seasons over anyway really, unless Usmanov comes on board we are stuck with Moshiri and his useless choices of average managers.

Season ain't over just yet.

That will come in January or if we are lucky, early February.

Depends on when we draw a half decent team in the F.A. Cup :(

I've said it before but it will take a few transfer windows for any manger to get close to sorting this club out. We could probably do with a refresh in the boardroom also. Mediocrity flows through us at the moment.

That being said tonight wasn't the time to rotate and give Southampton a shot at beating us. Prefer doing it the other way around, get a few goals and rest the key players.
Well said mate, you took the words out of my mouth.

If he embraces Blue Chrimbo festivities like Bobby did, then he fulfilling a very important managerial function. I think some on here place too much emphasis on what happens on the pitch. Let's not forget lads, we're the family club, and our work in the community carries much more weight than meaningless games of togger.

By-the-by, I hope our club captain returns soon. Tom Davies is a club legend, and will be a fabulous captain for at least a decade and a half, but with Blue Chrimbo rapidly approaching, I'd like to see the peerless Capt Jags resume the mantle of legendary leader.

Well he's just an absolute idiot isn't he?! I mean, why put yourself in a situation like this?! We've been struggling all season but looked like we might of turned a corner on Sat. Well that's all down the crapper now.

Play your best team you utter cretin! I've been reasonably supportive about him thus far and I don't expect massive changes so quickly but why on earth would anyone be so stupid as to make sweeping changes in the only competition we stand even the slightest chance of winning. This club really is an absolute joke and Silva is the latest punchline. I doubt he'll see the season out and the no doubt the morons running this club will replace him with somebody equally inept. This really is beyond pathetic......

Disappointed but not overly arsed tbh. This has become a competition between reserve teams of PL sides until it gets to the S/Fs, and our reserves lost a penalty shoot-out. 3 points on Saturday is more important hence the team selection. Any other PL manager would have done the same thing so the bedwetting is unnecessary and pointless.

Before I had a go at Marco, I would question the wisdom of Mark Hughes playing his entire starting XI just to try and save his own neck. Squeezing out points in the league is their top priority, not this cup.

The worrying sign is people seem to accept the club to do badly this season. And to get an Euro spot is like the new holy grail all of a sudden.

Players are mostly rested so they dont get injured in meaningless games, its not just about fitness.

To Silva its a meaningless game, hes not here to win trophies, hes here to get us in the CL.

It certainly wasn't "meaningless" to the thousands of people who parted with their hard earned to go there tonight.

If Silva is going to designate certain matched as "meaningless", presumably with the blessing of his boss, happen they should let the fans in for nowt.

Just a thought.

Yano.

agreed...but sadly, I don't see us getting any joy at Leicester's gaff.

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, in my view. The fringe players need game time, if for no other reason than to see if they truly warrant the shirt. None seemed to in this game, at least. He likely made a couple of changes too many (and I'd have had Richarlison on from the start), but I'd rather he do it in the League Cup than the league itself. It's been said he's going to need more than one transfer window to remove the stench of previous administrations, and I agree.

Top 10 slot and it's job done for Marco this season.

It's all about clearing the rubbish out like Baines and Jagielka etc and getting his style and first team choice in order.

We're on track.

I actually agree with you here mate. Although I’d add Schneids and a few others to that list. This year needs to be a cleanse of all the subpar players that Martinez and particularly Walsh and Koeman bought. A top 10 finish and a massive clear out will suffice.

That being said if you’re not planning on competing for a Euro league spot, you might as well have a go at the two cups.
