Sure he won Europa, FA and League cups.

He's doing poorly with a poor Utd side full of ego's. He isn't the Jose of old I agree but he's still a million miles better than Silva or any Everton manager of recent memory.

Just like Koeman, he did well at Southampton despite losing most of his best players, this is the guy to take us forward

I think you'll find that those who didnt want Koeman wanted Silva...totally opposite sides of the spectrum.

Mourinho is a manager for the present at any club he has joined. He builds a team that can challenge immediately but very often can sign players at their peak or even beyond, he has to keep replenishing his squad/team as players fall away within a few years of being signed.
We have seen with how he treats players like Martial, Shaw and others that he doesn't trust young relatively inexperienced players.

Silva seems to be the opposite, he signs young players, he plays them and seems prepared to accept the mistakes they can make.
Silva seems to want to build the club with him into the future.... how successful he will be only time will tell.

For now we are competing though? I agree that if we start losing every week he needs to park the vision and come up with a way of stopping the rot, but if we can get the results to get us 7th/8th while getting everybody playing the way we want to in the long term, why wouldn't we?

But if we concede for fun we will struggle
Not enough goals in this team to outscore teams
Hopefully Mina and Gomes will add a bit more defensively

Mourinho creates tension and life/death mentality like it's a submarine and he captain Nemo..that bursts in season three as we know cause players have enough.. He's record is impressive but not what club in our situation needs

The more Silva speaks the more I like him. Seems calm, seems to want the players to get to their best level, isn’t getting caught up in creating silly headlines, just getting on with things quietly. Tough task coming up with Leicester away twice but if we can stay in the cup and get into Christmas in the top half then who knows what might happen.

Interesting thoughts and I agree. Could Silva be wanting to build a dynasty like harry did way back and Howie. TBH if our neighbours had not screwed up, our club could have been well and truly put on the map!

My bets would easily be on Mourinho winning another major trophy again before either Everton or Silva do but Silva can go one step towards proving that wrong tonight by us beating Southampton.
