McCarthy was very good and incredibly effective for us until he got injured. I mean the very first time. He played somewhat after that but never fully recovered and just when it looked like he may get there he broke his leg which is horrible luck.

You are wrong mate, technically he’s not better than Schneiderlin, the only common ability they both share is passing timidly with no real purpose.

Physically he might match Gana but his ball winning ability is not as good.

He’s far from the next level we’re trying to achieve.

He has more intensity in him than the rest of the panel put together tho

No. I'm right. He anticipates danger earlier than any DM we have. That's key for that role. He is very tough as a competitor and also recycles the ball efficiently.

Gueye and Scheiderlin are not at the races in the first aspect and dont match McCarthy for the other two attributes.

Before he was injured McCarthy in that first 18 months for Everton was as good a DM as I've seen in a blue shirt.

Not a patch on Reid, Bracewell or Joe Parkinson and not as good as Barry.
