Sadly in this day and age that’s a red. He’s been had off there, as soft and pathetic as the rules are. Although I’m not sure why Smith can also make contact with his head and not even get booked.

Is it cheating from Smith? Possibly. It is the sort of snide we could do with? Possibly.

That is the thing though, it isn't a red even under the soft and pathetic rules:

Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.

It isn't an attempted headbutt (like Ronaldo's vs Iran that should have been a red as he didn't connect) and the force wasnt excessive or brutal. Probert has remembered only half the definition of a player striking an opponent on the head there (ie: he's forgotten that it has to be with the hand or arm).

And as I suspected Robbie Mustoe brings out the it's the right decision he's moved at him crap.

Violent conduct everyone. Not sure in what world that's violent but whatever

Gylfi the only one looking like an actual footballer today but needs to be more involved. We need to get him on the ball as much as possible second half.

Surely we cant be as bad as the first half, even with 10 men.
