Usmanov

Usmanov is not a British citizen (see my post #5,915 15 June 2018) and is facing a number of potential challenges to his existing life-style.

Firstly, The US Senate could soon be bringing forwards a bill to enable sanctions on major sectors of the Russian economy, including finance, energy, defense, and metals and mining. (CNN, 20/7/2018) Usmanov is the founder and major shareholder in Metalloinvest, on which his fortune is based.

Secondly, in Britain, '...there have been calls to deny them [oligarchs] access to their London lifestyles following the poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal in Britain. Usmanov and Roman Abramovich, who owns the Chelsea football club, are the most prominent among the Russian elite living in London.' (Reuters, today)

It is possible that, like Abramovitch, Usmanov is simply reducing his financial exposure in the UK. (The next round of US sanctions against named people could include both Usmanov and Roman Abramovich making banking and financial deals difficult for them.)

and then there is the small matter of FFP to comply with.
why do so many numpties think that as soon as we have a rich owner we can just splurge £500m on players?!! ffs

go read some rules
You sound like a wealth of knowledge.....

That chap reads GOT then...

Yeah maybe, but I thought he did that in October by admitting he'd sell for the first time;

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...fer-stan-kroenke-takeover-talks-a3650726.html

This bit here;

"I would like to assure supporters that I am open to various future scenarios - a constructive partnership with the majority shareholder, the purchase of his stake either alone or in a consortium, or if a party appears who shares my and undoubtedly the majority of fans’ vision for the club, I could consider the question of selling my stake."

We should riot against Trump and May if they deny us Usmanov :D

this great club that has been in slow decline for decades due to the fact every other club have been taken over by super rich criminals.
as long as the club gets investment, who cares. I'm sure Chelsea fans lose sleep at night wondering how they funded their premier league titles and champions league win.

As do Man City fans etc.

It is only a report that Usmanov is willing to sell his shares to the Arsenal owner nothing concrete.

What baffles me is the hysteria on here about the man, there has been no inkling or suggestion anywhere that he would wish to buy into our club so why all the panic?

Lol, as if Paul Brown even knows anyone “close” to Usmanov lol it’s probably his mate who lives down the road from Usmanovs mansion in London and saw him nipping out for milk once.
In a cold-war novel I once read, the corner shop was used as an information transfer 'drop point'. I'm wondering whether Paul Brown's mate read the same novel and might be over-dramatising Usmanov's ducking out for some milk; perhaps he just wanted some for his cereal?

Wants to meet Dave before he goes on his hols ?

It's an asset that continues to grow. They are the biggest club in the biggest city in Europe. Lots of investors are happy to be silent partners. I'm not saying it would be easy or would happen, but I can't say I'd be "amazed" if someone wanted to invest in a business that has grown substantially over the last 20,10,5,1 years and is in a boom sector.

It was said on here that Kronke’s ambition is to buy Arsenal outright and incorporate in the States along with the rest of his sporting franchises

Ever since the window opened we have been linked with all kinds of players only for them to be going elsewhere, the only one that seems to actually be on is an ex Watford player, the rest were either never on at all or we failed.

Agree on the clubs finances being tip top compared to the past, and I do accept we made such a mess last year we have to be very carful this summer, but even so, the clock is ticking
You actually believe the mad reports linking us with all and sundry ... its clickbait for gullable desperate any transfer news football fans with too much internet time.
We were never going shopping till we came back from the Azda Challenge Cup or whatever that was
The manager needed to look at the squad before anything was started in transfer terms .... which it has with Richarlison
There is no struggle just a better plan than last year

Haha Bill Grundy's not heard that for a while. Live on the Isle of Man now and nobody has an idea what I'm going on about when I say Grundy's.
tbf, I hadn't heard it for ages until @ProZ used it in an expression to describe great elation/excitement ... "I skidded my bills when I heard the news". I'd add just here that ProZ's soiled laundry basket is not a thing you want to get too near to lol
