If you’re not worried after that tonight you need your head testing

Liverpool drew 0-0 with Bury on Saturday mate. D'you reckon they're worried?

It was a pre-season friendly. The first competitive fixture. Looked sharp at times, sloppy at others. Everyone, bar a few, got a run out. Sandro worked hard, lacked the end product. That's about it really.

Gotta say I’m starting to get concerned.

A lot of these lads just don’t look up to it and there doesn’t appear to be any incoming signings to replace them.

Had high hopes for Davies but he looks distinctly average as does Dowell.
You’re starting to get concerned? If this is you just starting I dread to think what will happen given the way you’ve been before this

They’re not worried because they have spent a fortune. I ain’t talking about the result we could have won and I would have been worried

We need quality in forward areas is my view after tonight

We need players who can get the ball into the forwards as well.

Bare in mind, Kev/Sandro - all being well - aren't going to be our first choice partnership. It'll be Walcott and Lookman (or Malcom/someone else). Walcott's got a knock, I don't know why Lookman didn't play but neither did Holgate so I'm guessing both will feature over the weekend games.

We've got Gylfi and Gana coming back tomorrow. We'll know the areas that we need to target and we will move players on in the next few weeks. You have to have other teams interested to do that.

“Of course, we want a normal number in our squad and we are working on both sides,” Silva said.

“Of course, after the next weekend I will start taking some decisions as well because we will have finalised the third week of pre-season and that is the moment to take some important decisions about our players as well.

“And we expect in the next few days the new players we need will start to arrive.”

“I'm confident,” Silva added, on landing his targets.

“If you ask me, in a normal situation it is not the perfect situation because this season the market will close early, this is new for us.

“In a normal situation we have maybe already signed one or two players, we haven't signed anybody yet but we have until the end of the market to sign our targets and it is something we have to do because we need and we need to give a signal for our team and for our fans what we want for the season.”

Everton are one of only three Premier League clubs yet to make a signing but the Blues boss added: “We know and it is clear for us what we need.

"It's clear for me as well, our board and our owner, it is clear they know what we need. It is clear what our targets are and where we want to improve our squad well.

“Of course, the boys are working well and are working really hard but, like all the other teams, we want to improve our squad and be more competitive as well.

“But now we are working and they know what we want and what we need.”

Everton have already sold Ramiro Funes Mori and Wayne Rooney, allowed Joel Robles to leave on a free and sent Luke Garbutt out on loan.

But Silva says he does not need to sell more players in order to start this summer's signings.

“The challenge is a normal thing, we are here to take decisions to improve our squad, the get Everton better and better because we have to do this,” he continued.

Well hang on, they've spent a fortune and still drew 0-0. And VVD, Keita both played the other day, as did most of the other first-teamers available to them. In fact, Bury hit the post and had a goal disallowed. So shouldn't they be more worried?

Bore off. It's pre-season. We need signings. But I don't think Kieran Tierney would have spurred us on to victory from left-back tonight.

Push back my worry another week. He seems calm.

“Marco Silva expects Everton will kick-off this summer's transfer business in the “next few days” - as he revealed he is to begin wielding the axe on players after the trip to Portugal.
And the Blues boss insists he has the funds to start bringing in new faces now and does not need to sell players in order to generate a transfer kitty”.

Made me feel better that.

What happened to the old thread heard a rumour it has been loaned out to the Turkish league as part of the new clear out.

A fez for the loan with a permanent deal of a years supply of doner meat.
