Messi "best player of all time"

Some rawkesque levels of delusion in this thread regarding Ronaldo being better . Embarrassing.

Ronaldo is unreal there is no doubt . But the way some of you are putting down messi’s achievements you’d think he was on the level of that Russian crab Bily who played for us .
Some of you don’t deserve eyesight because you clearly don’t watch football properly. Either that or it’s agenda driven nonsense.

I put it down to the English delusion that to be decent you have to be a big grock.

Pretty sure Uruguay won the Copa América recently.

Brazil often send B teams or miss it completely and Argentina crumble under the expectation. Kind of opens it up to the others to win. The point that I am trying to make is over say the last 12 year period if one of the top European teams drew or had to play any team from the Americas that wasn't Brazil or Argentina they would look on it favourably.

I think the assist stat is a bit too vague to be reliable really, but I do know that only one of the two players drops pinpoint passes in behind opposition defences on a regular basis and often having just dribbled past a couple of players.
I watched a fair bit of Barca when it started going wrong under Luis Enrique and the number of matches Messi dragged them through was staggering. While the rest of them pissed about he was consistently scoring and putting chance after chance on a plate for them, usually wasted by Suarez. He is THE team player (hence him feeling the need to drop deep in recent years)

just not sure some realise how good he really is and was

Just as a fan that has never played or coached at a level higher than the college level; in the 40-50 matches I’ve watched of Messi for Barcelona, I simply don’t see Messi impact the game greater than the likes of others in his squad such as Iniesta, Rakitic, and Busquets. I would argue that those three have a greater impacts in the matches that I have watched.

Meanwhile, every match I have ever seen Ronaldo play; approximately 65-75 matches, Ronaldo is always the greatest and most impactful player on the pitch.

Take this for what it is worth because clearly I don’t see all of their matches; but, from my perspective Ronaldo is drastically the greater player and it really isn’t close.
You must have watched a really, really weird selection of games. I mean, Ronaldo wasn't even the 'most impactful' on the pitch in the very last game he played. Or in massive games like the Champions League final.

I said earlier in the thread I honestly wouldn't say one of them is better than the other, but to see people actually suggesting Messi isn't even in the same category is absolutely staggering. I'm not sure I can take someone's opinion on football seriously if they don't even think Messi is better than Busquets.
