McFadden at Everton

Really wanted him to succeed - for a time seemed like he’d be a classic Scottish winger but was just sooo slow. Boggling that we were so skint we resigned him

That's a massive understatement if ever I saw one lol

This guy was deceptive, as in actually slower than he looked. Try about 10 yards short of being a really good player.

Remember seeing him out sprinted by Viduka once, brought a chuckle from me.

I meant he could beat a player and needed that quick yard to get away and cross/pass etc, over a longer distance even Osman or a current one legged McCarthy would beat him.

I reckon we sold him a couple of weeks too early. We had that 2nd leg in the League Cup v Chelsea coming up and he was capable of doing that one little moment you need that can lead to a chance on goal.

Probably the best non-scoring debut I’ve seen in my Everton lifetime, ripped a decent right back in Gary Kelly to absolute shreds, funnily enough the other debut that springs to mind was Tommy Myrhe also v Leeds 0-0,a combination of big nev,Gordon banks, lev yashin etc that day:)

He was great on his debut against Leeds.

I remember saying who needs Rooney when we have this lad.

lol
