...Sunday 20th May, and here’s a summary of this morning’s transfer gossip;

- The Daily Mirror claim Everton have joined the race for £60m rated Crystal Palace winger, Wilfred Zaha.

- The Mirror also report Farhad Moshiri doesn’t want Wayne Rooney’s transfer to D.C.United to stall after the sacking of Sam Allardyce. Moshiri is keen to get Rooney’s £180k per week wages off the books, which means paying another £9m for a player who turns 33 in October.

- Hakim Ziyech is ready to leave Ajax amid interest from Everton, Arsenal and Liverpool. The 25 year old Moroccan playmaker is quoted in The Mirror; ‘From the January transfer window, I have been clear that it was my intention to leave Ajax in the summer’.

- According to a report in Spain, Everton have identified 31 year old Real Betis goalkeeper, Antonio Adan, to replace Joel Robles as back-up to Jordan Pickford.

- ToffeeWeb say Everton’s hopes of wrapping up a quick deal for PSV’s Mexican winger, Hirving Lozano, have been dealt a blow by Valencia’s emerging interest in the 22 year old.

- French Sports Daily, L’equippe, claim PSG have been offered the chance to sign Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshire, on a free transfer this summer. Arsenal have offered Wilshire a new contract and West Ham and Everton are also interested.

...and the managerial related bits and bobs;

- Alisher Usmanov has been linked with Everton again. A little snippet in the Daily Mail has added fuel to the rumours by saying there “is talk” current Chairman Bill Kenwright could step down and be replaced by Usmanov.

- The Daily Mail also claim Everton hope to announce the arrival of new Manager, Marco Silva, early next week. Talks with the 40 year old Portuguese coach have concluded satisfactorily and the threats of compensation from his former club, Watford, are no longer an obstacle.
Sterling work as always eggs. I’ve been looking forward to these daily updates since the last window.

With all the changes going on it wouldn’t be too much to say that usmanov will come. I just think it is likely to be when the first spade hits the ground for the new stadium. Anyway even if it didn’t it’s not like he isn’t bankrolling us anyway is it?

..as @roydo says, the rumours wont go away. It’s probably more difficult to infer Usmanov isn’t involved in some capacity given his very close business dealings with Moshiri. It would be great if that interest was officially confirmed.

We want to be a world powerhouse of football again he would be sure to take us back there again. You can just imagine him coming in and pulling up next to the stadium on the docks on match day. There are too many things that suggest he is involved in my opinion ie USM finch farm etc

...if we are interested and if we were able to acquire him it would be very exciting. I agree, he could be a star in the World Cup.
Never seen this lad play just watched his YouTube video he doesn’t look that powerful hopefully if we do get him this isn’t an issue. He does look a very clever player & his body movements across opponents position himself so they need to foul him to disposes him & his finishing also looked very good.

Get him then we have Walcott, Lookman, dowell 4 wide attacking players who all drift in field & support loan striker.
get brands to sit down with vlasic & tell him he has a big future at Everton that’s the attacking players sorted for this season.

Tosun, niasse & Calvert Lewin as centre forwards.

Spend the remainder then on centre mid, left back & centre half.

That should guarantee top 7 at a canter then really push on next summer. By this point We will have learnt if the attacking players are good enough & they will either have blossomed or can be moved on.

Needs to be a 3 year plan to break into those above which clearly brands is on board with.

None of them good enough IMO to get us where we want to be.

..funny, I thought exactly the same when I saw the piece on Usmanov.

Might also be the case with the Hirving Lozano link because I think @bluestevon mentioned that as soon as Brands joined. Have to say, Lozano looks very decent. He could be a star in the World Cup.

The Lozano link came from the Mirror a couple of months ago when they said Brands would be coming to us and we’d be teaming up with Raiola. They said Brands would bring both Lozano and Ziyech to us. Lozano recently hired Raiola as his agent.

Btw, Zaha - £60m?! Extortionate in my opinion, although not surprising these days. I think he’s just a big fish in a small pond at Palace, reminds me a lot of Bolasie when he was at Palace the way he plays. Definitely wouldn’t be paying that amount for him.

The narrative is too compelling to be dismissed. But who knows.

I said the other day , the way it seems dropped into conversations or articles just feels like his involvement is an open secret within the game . Whether it ever becomes more formal though , who knows

I think In all likliehood you will be proved correct, however I don’t think we will attract the players we require it get us to were we want to be.

We need to get back to extracting the best out our players even if they aren’t at the level we want then replace them with better options.

Not sure we have a single player performing to his potential.

You used far too much logic in one post mate.

Optimally we can't fix "where want to to be" in one, two or probably three summers. Right now Walcott and Lookman are good enough. As far as Vlasic and Dowell go, there is still plenty of time. They are barely out of their teens and need to be introduced as bit part players. Rather back them in, improve them and if they don't become better players, sell them off.
