Who gets a reprieve?

Goalkeepers - Pickford, Stekelenburg, Hewelt

Defenders - Coleman (C), Kenny, Holgate, Funes Mori, Keane, Pennington, Baines, Robinson, Martina

Midfielders - Gueye, Schneiderlin, Davies, McCarthy, Sigurdsson, Vlasic, Dowell

Attackers - Tosun, Niasse, Walcott, Lookman

In the bin
-
Robles (his choice), Williams, Jagielka (Sheff Utd return), Galloway, Browning, Garbutt, Besic, Mirallas, Bolasie

Out on loan - Baningime, J. Williams, Connolly, Klaassen, Sandro, Calvert-Lewin (needs regular games as a striker)

9 players sold and 6 loaned out doesn't seem too much of an overhaul too quickly as we need to make it a process, we can't just do what we did when we suddenly got money and waste it all we also can't just sell everyone for under performing, we could risk selling everyone having a whole new 11 and having the same issues settling players in as the start of this season.

Players in bold should be the core of the team we start to build around
Pickford

Coleman (C) - Holgate - Funes Mori - Baines

Gueye - Schniederlin

Walcott - Sigurdsson - Lookman

Tosun

Subs - Stekelenburg, Kenny, Keane, Davies, Vlasic, Dowell, Niasse
Realistically we need to bring in 3/4 starters and a couple of experienced squad players, then maybe a couple more could be sold on.

All depends on the manager and his style though, the core group have got it in them to play but if we have a manager whose not interested then it's just going to be like it has been for the last year.

They’ve just given Pennington a three year new deal. A player who couldn’t even get in the Leeds starting eleven at times. I have no hope

The only player who I’d keep is Pickford. The rest wouldn’t get into any top six side bar maybe Coleman on the bench although his days are numbered hitting 30

Quite simple really...out of these players who should be given another chance?

Squad total of 38

god that's depressing

I never saw Martinez on the correct side of the pitch, I can only believe that he must be a lot better there, I would keep him, but more out of curiosity than for any purposeful reason.
I genuinely see no players in this team except Coleman that I think capable of doing anything. In fact my second favorite player is probably Niasse, but again that's mostly because of his locker story.

Lets get some more dross, but this time unpredictable dross like Zaha, Loftus-cheek or Arnautovic or the likes, the sort of player who does nothing most weeks, but once a month actually does... well... something. Once a month makes us at least 25% more interesting than this season at least.

I have given up hoping we get actual quality tbh.

We already have Bolasie for unpredictable dross.

RENEW!

If we can move Morgan, Williams, Keane, Jags, McCarthy, Mirallas, Klaassen, Besic, Martina, Garbutt, Sandro, and Galloway, even for NOTHING, we probably save 600K a week in salary. Even if we only got 50M back. If Rooney goes, that’s probably more like 800MK a week.

Clearly we need at least one CB, CM, and LB. Probably looking at 100M. Those players also need to be really good. Loans for Onyekuru, DCL.

But let’s not underestimate what a decent manager can do with decent talent.

One positive is that surely Lookman will be selected ahead of Bolasie next season. His performances for Leipzig cannot be overlooked.

I'd keep Pickford, Coleman, Gana, Walcott, Sigurdsson, Lookman, Tosun for the first XI, and Baines, Onyekuru, Kenny, Vlasic, maybe Mori, Niasse, Holgate as backup.

Would punt every single player not listed above out of the club, with the likes of DCL, Baningime, Davies, Dowell shipped out on loan.

That means Scheiderlin, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Sandro, Bolasie, Rooney, Mirallas, Martina, McCarthy, Klaassen, Besic, Galloway, Garbutt, Tarashaj and Browning can do one.

Quite frankly I think we need a huge clearout of 21 players.

5 new first choice players
3 Rotation players

This is going to be a very long or a very exciting summer depending on the Manager and DOF.

Honest question here... I see Davies being listed almost unanimously as a keeper by those who approach the question seriously.

I don't see it with him. I understand he's young and will grow into his body more, but his technique looks like crap on even short, what should be easy passes to make.

He looks lost often to me, but fair to say the manager possibly deserves some of the blame.

He just doesn't look the part to me, he's not technical enough on the simplest of things and the game looks too fast for him in my opinion. When the greatest positive is that he's young and going to grow physically that's a sign to me that a guy just doesn't have it.
