Very true. But we should at least have given one of the top 6 a decent game in some of our head to heads. We played quite well in the first half away to City. Were ok uo until the final 10 away to United then imploded. The rest we were taught football lessons.

Oh I agree completely. But with the squad we have, despite the feel good factor and fan excitement, wasn’t a top 4 standard squad. We should still be able to give them a good game undoubtedly, but if you compare squads, we were a long way off at the end of the summer transfer window. I think as a fan base (myself included) we got way ahead of ourselves.

i thought silva was the real deal when he was at hull, he got watford playing some truly amazing stuff, they were heavy favourites to go down let's not forget. Yet we showed interest and what happened worried me. It's exactly like our players downing tools under martinez and their defending was the same scenario also.

...however, at least i actually dreamed under martinez, i believed we could actually do something and i actually enjoyed us, we actually tried to go away at the big boys and take them on.

I'd be underwhelmed with silva, but that's mainly because of the sheer amount of top top managers going spare this summer. It's the perfect time for us to pluck one like emery who can take us right up that table.

...but that's all plain and simple saying it, i think they'll all have better offers than us, i won't be gutted with silva though.

' I dreamed under Martinez'

Exactly how i feel ! Felt we had a chance to beat anyone but also a chance we could get thrashed! It was exciting and we played exciting football. Not even been bothered about saturday afternoons for half the season :(

Tony Bellew talking him up on soccer am. Rat.
I agree mate....but hes just oiling the wheels of his future in the media...they are all the same...like the nobeds on Talk sport all smoozing each other..gravy boy is well in the centre of it all....its survival on its lowest snake form...talent generally isnt a requirement...

In fairness, we expected a lot more from the new additions. Let's be honest, Keane, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Vlasic have all underwhelmed, and Sandro and Klaassen have been a total disaster. The fact that 4 of them will probably all want to play in the same position definitely didn't help.

4 or 5 decent purchases, all quality starters, during the summer, along with a new manager who plays high temp offensive football, and we'll get a lot closer to those top positions. It would be good to have a decent run with injures too as we've had more than our fair share the last few seasons.

Our squad was nowhere near good enough to mount a serious challenge on top 4 last season, but, post January especially, I believe it was comfortably 7th best in terms of individual quality. And a decent manager would have had us 6th given Arsenals problems.

Or maybe he’s just giving his opinion ffs.
