Everyone one knows that Rooney has agreed a deal in principal with DC United but until he actually signs for them, he is nothing to do with them.

Likewise, Allardyce was in talks with Everton for a week or so and was agreeing final terms at finch farm on the 29th November and was appointed on the 30th November and so that is when his tenure starts from, not during the negotiation stage.

We were 13th in the table when he was appointed. It is what it is.
I don't think that is correct about having no effect.
I think a new manager watching in the stands waiting to take over the following would of course have influenced the players.
My memory is that Sam said a few words to the players before the game, but I may be wrong about that.

The same would probably have happened with any manager sitting in the stands about to be appointed. It is the bounce we so often see from a new manager.
It is just because it was Sam that some find it so hard to accept.

Didn’t he win 2, draw 1 and lose 2? Any proof we were bottom of form table as that’s not a particularly bad return tbh. With a goal difference of 0 over that time. Hardly what id call free fall.

If you totally ignore that he got us chucked out of 2 cup comps as well as throwing points away in the league, then maybe.

We played 8 games under Unsy, we won 2, drew 1 and lost 5.

Based on the many words of encouragement he has had for everyone since then i would love to know what those 'few words' might have been?

Nobody wants to listen Mooms, everybody with a clue can see the difference between Southampton and West Ham.

Everybody wants to assume Unsy suddenly got a clue.

Just let them dream.
So you saying the difference was Sam Allardyce sitting in the stands, and the players suddenly got some inspiration from that?

How about Unsy suddenly got the tactics, team selection right against a very poor West Ham side.

Fact away but he was brought in to stop us potentially getting relegated and everybody knows it.

Nobody would disagree with that being the reason he was brought in. They were desperate and panicked and he had them by the balls. My own view is that we were never going to be relegated as there was only about 14 games gone but none of that matters now. He did what he was brought in to do and will be moved on next week with a fat cheque in his back pocket.

Nope, im saying Sam spoke to the players before the game or maybe Unsy found a clue once Big Joe gave him a hug.

Probably 1 of the most embarrassing things ive seen in all my years in football, a manager getting hugged in the dugout by a former manager to "help".

He lost in the league cup and both games in Europe. Before the West Ham game it was 1 victory, 1 draw and 5 defeats.

The victory against Watford was lucky to say the least.

Might have been a combination of Koeman and Unsworth when we was bottom of the form table.

Still, thats a shocking run of results by Unsworth and he was let down by the players badly during that time. A new manager in the crowd would have lifted the players performance levels.

So anyway, if we assume we were in 13th when Sam came in, he still managed to give us a 5 place bump to 8th, so if he does the same next season, we finish 3rd.

Makes ya think doesnt it, then the next season a 5th place bump would mean we win the League in 2020.

Give him a 5 year contract and we can win the World Cup.

We had a go against Chelsea and played well. Hardly his fault we were up against the champions. Wasn’t it a late goal
By them that won it? If I remember rightly we were still in that till late on. Europe was a disaster and I’m surprised we even got the group stages the way we had been playing in the qualifiers. Throwing away points? You mean like sam throwing the games against most of the top 7 by not even setting up to try and win as well as West Brom?

Agree with your second point, it was embarrassing but Im in no way saying Unsworth should of stayed, all am saying is he should be given credit for the West Ham game, after all he was the manager at the time. He picked the team, the tactics, made the substitutions.
How anyone can say Allardyce had an impact on that result is mind boggling really.
