2017/18 Nikola Vlasic

..clearly short of game time and not very sharp but there were a couple of glimpses of quality, particularly taking up a great central position and putting Coleman in on goal. I just think he could provide that bit of quality we’re lacking if he plays in a central midfield attacking role. He’s not a winger, he’s actually a liability defensively (could’ve given a penalty away). In our position we might as well find out about him by giving him a few games.

Start him instead of Rooney?

...yep, but I don’t think it necessarily is Rooney v Vlasic. I think Vlasic has real potential to play the Barkley role. I think Vlasic could play the same role as Wilshire. Arsenal thumped us at home but I turned to my son and said Vlasic reminds me so much of Wilshire. He watched and agreed.

Rooney is terrific but we want better. Rooney will have a role to play next season if he’s managed. Rooney comes on in the Derby and certainly slots the chance DCL missed. I’m not saying Vlasic is the answer but he could be decent, he could be Wilshire.

I think Rooney was terrific but Utd sold us - not for the first time - the clapped out version of a previously good player.

Vlasic has the legs and has shown the talent to link up with Tosun. Remember it was the Everton midfield players - apparently
Barry - who recommended that Koeman should buy him. He needs to start the last two games. When was the last time Rooney had
a good game? Has he been the passing, scoring midfielder that we had hoped for? He does not run pass Tosun or link up. Vlasic
deserves a shot.

Rooney getting 180,000 pounds or whatever for another year now looks madness. As does RK giving Miralles a 3 year contract. Things
that happen in football. Maybe we can persuade Rooney's agent to try his luck in China. But get rid...

Gave more than I expected he would against Huddersfield, considering he's not been getting the minutes. The lad really needs to play in the last two games though, or it's just a pointless waste of time. Would also like to see Klaassen getting some game time before the season is done.

It's far too much to ask obviously for Sam to experiment slightly with the next two games essentially dead rubbers, but I'd love for Vlasic to be given a crack just behind Tosun. Bolasie and Walcott can provide width, with two of Gueye/Davies/Sneids/Rooney in the middle.

If after 60, or even 45 minutes it's not working, he can revert to his status quo, but surely the coaching staff can see they have an opportunity to try a couple of things in the next fortnight. That is, if indeed Sam is building for next season n'all.
