We need to stop buying random players based on availability, we need to find an identity and style of football and bring players who fit into a cohesive and desired system of play. Too many square pegs have been bought into an already bloated yet hugely unbalanced squad.

Players bought by four different managers are still recognised as regular starters in our squad. Four different managers who”s individual preferred style of play could be best be considered as pragmatic, adventurous, unknown to the current turgid and disinterested. With such differences of what we are trying to do from the manager, with our first foray with a Director of Football who has never explained what his remit is, it isn’t that difficult to see why we can look a little laboured at certain times this season!!

Everton, get a grip. Punt Allardyce, bin or move Walsh to a role he may be capable of doing, bring in a new DoF (or don’t) and get a manager who has proven skills in developing a style of football that makes us hard to beat, changes a beaten before we play any team away mentality, talks regularly and honestly to the media and to the fans about what he is trying to do....and he will be guaranteed support and time to implement that vision. You know, we may get somewhere.

Or, carry on with what we are doing and go nowhere until we sleep walk to relegation and wonder how did that ever happen.
You do realise that you have now used up your full quota of intelligent sensible posts for this quarter.
A lot of lads prefer when tosh is posted
Well said sir

In all seriousness these, for me, are the only players in our current squad good enough to take us to the next level.
Don't get me wrong I think that a lot of our players would be very valuable assets going forward, but no more than squad players

I was thinking last night, I know its only paper talk, but I cant see where Lazano and Ziyech would fit in.

If we assume we are to play 4-2-3-1, that means :

Pickford
Coleman - CB - CB - LB
Gana - CM
Walcott - Ziyech - Lazano
Tosun
Where does that leave our Record signing Iceland and our highest paid player Wayne Rooney, cos no manager who wishes to retain their job will play Wayne legs gone Rooney in a DM role.

Anyway, just a thought based on mindless paper rubbish.

As one who only heard of either of them a few days ago, not a clue.

gueye is tosh

I think as a ball winning, combative midfielder he's one of the best in the league - I think if we played him just in front of somebody like Nzonzi (who we have been linked with) and next to a more creative player (such as Sigurdsson) that would be a very competitive midfield trio
