“Fans” that won’t support us if we get Allardyce

I agree, and it will cost him his job in the Summer. But the reason we are in the healthier position we are now (this isn't opinion, it is fact) is down to his performance as manager when he first came in. That is what I am giving him credit for because he deserves credit for that.

We now have a chance of European qualification that we didn't have under Koeman or Unsworth managing us this season.

It won't mate.

He was only ever brought in until the summer.

He'll bail with a huge bonus, and 18 months pay for 6 months work.

I also disagree with your comments vs Koeman and Unsworth regarding us being in contention for Europe under Allardyce but not Koeman.

Koeman was sacked on game week 9 after a defeat to Arsenal. Had he won that game we'd have been 3 points from Europa and 5 points from 4th.

Small margins.

In arguing against Allardyce being treated unfairly, you're doing likewise to Koeman and Unsworth.

We were 5 points above the relegation places before Allardyce took over, now we're 7, so in his 14 games (and 42 points on offer) in charge we're a massive 2 points better off than before he started.

We may sit in 9th place, and 3 pts from 7th, but even when we couldn't buy a win we somehow still managed to stay 9th, so it may be a tad bit of improvement, but that for me really points to how gash the prem really is this season.

Also, we're as gash now as we were under Koeman and Unsworth, so no improvement there.

Indeed, Lou.

Given the run we have been on since Boxing Day, the fact we are so far away from the relegation places says more about the teams below us than it says about EFC.

When Allardyce was officially appointed: 13th, points from relegation = 5, points from 7th = 9
Now: 9th, points from relegation = 7, points from 7th = 3.

That last stat really underscores the old adage about lies, damned lies and statistics.

Because it takes absolutely no account of the fact that we only lie three points off 7th place because of the collapse in Burnley’s form.

If they had been on merely a bad run since Christmas, instead of a horrendous run, they would have extended that gap between us and 7th, I am afraid :(

In fact, given the run Burnley is on, it is an indictment of Sam that we have not closed that gap still further or indeed passed them...... because the paltry return of two points in three games versus Baggies and Bounemouth in late December/ early January is what really stymied the initial progress we seemed to be making under him and those three games more than any other since he arrived are the ones which have created the current angst among the fans.

Nope. It was always going to turn out like this.

We’re in a better position now than when he took over. We’ve still got a realistic chance of Europe despite everything.

He hasn’t solved all of our problems by any means but let’s not forget how poor we were before he took over.

I just dislike the attitude of so many Evertonians at the moment who just seem to delight in us doing poorly and can’t wait to slate the club. That’s not ‘support’!

We have a manager who plays for the draw against teams who are worse than us...and then loses. We aren’t getting close to Europe.

We’re dire now, what exactly is the issue with wanting us to do better?

Trust me I take absolutey no delight travelling to watch us play “football” these days and how we’ve won absolutely nothing for 23 years.

Are you having another go off the fans lad?:)

Neither is happy clapping. Allardyce has regressed us to the most basic form of survival football. Pencil in the games at home v the bottom 13 and throw away all others. His lineups for away games show that he’s pretty much thrown nearly all of them. We’ll get the points needed to survive but watching Everton teams going out against sides knowing that they’ve been told to enact a game plan not intended to win is sickening.

Allardyce doesn’t believe we can compete against sides like Arsenal and Liverpool (despite Swansea beating both). Come the Goodison derby we will know that our team will walk out on our own turf having been told they should not expect to win and at best can just contain Liverpool’s front three. We’ll then be dismantled by complete dross like Henderson Milner and a Lallana. I can’t get behind that sort of approach no matter if it does yield a few more points than Unsworth or Koemsn might have.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting us to do better, the issue in this thread is not even giving someone a chance before writing them off. Have a look in the Tosun thread it’s the same thing there.
