We need a better striker. There aren't an awful lot available.
A risk worth taking, imo.

Disagree.

Dembele, Andre Silva, Dolberg etc.

If Tosun comes in, we still need a top striker - he doesn't have the credentials for that fee and we're not that desperate - we'll finish 7th-9th this season with or without him.

Little has changed my mind.

Put him in the team , give him a proper chance to establish himself rather than a few minutes here and there.
Against Watford his application and effort was good , it wasn't as if there were plenty of chances being created , time will tell just how good he can be.
He has had two months to settle and now deserves to start.

Tosun will be a regular in the starting eleven next season. Put a good winger on the left, get a passer in midfield and he'll flourish.

I'd love to see us play 4-4-2 more when at home and really get at teams. 4-5-1 isn't a problem away from home, except when it's with two defensive midfielders sat in front of a back four leaving any striker completely isolated up front. In fact, get two attacking full backs in the side and a 4-5-1 with one offensive-minded midfielder next to a playmaker would be a great formation away from home.

But I feel Tosun will prove himself here. No blame can be attached to him so far.

Niasse is never going to be good enough as a long term option so I can't undertand why we don't give Toscun a chance . Start him. No point in letting him go in the summer if we never give him a chance. Or even try starting both

Its true that if we dont think Niasse is starting material, than next season we still need a stiker because Tosun will be only one of the two we need, and not sure DCL will be there yet.

Strikers, feels like it will be another 30 years until we have another good one.

Hopefully the dismissal of Black Card Steve will see Fonseca bringing all kinds of glorious Brazilians with actual talent.

Imagine having a striker who takes people on?

MADNESS

Whatever Tosun does in training affects his opportunities. Assuming he is OK in training then surely a run of 3 or 4 games with a decent level of service to his feet will show whether we have bought a duffer or a decent players. I am glad for Niasse as a person that he has emerged from his football exile under Koeman, but he is definitely not the long term answer. I have seen worse than him, but that is no measure for what should be our standards going forward. I put DCL in a similar category, grossly overrated in the early season, although he played in a terrible team, and just not good enough to be our main striker. Maybe he will develop into one in a few years. Give Tosun a chance; if he fails, bin him and Walsh and try someone else next season.

I don't think we can totally judge anyone new to this country playing in a system with one up front who is totally isolated. What you can say is Tosun looks like a striker that plays in a two as such we should have gone for a Dembele who can play as a lone striker. if we are persisting with this one up top all the time nonsense. Another mistake by Walsh.

He's certainly not the long term answer, but I think he has a lot to offer off the bench, more than DCL right now. Niasse somewhere in the squad, especially at the 14 million pounds he cost, could be useful.

Agreed we need to start Cenk now, and Niasse off bench if we need more pace/life, etc

tosun need service from wings and at least 1 attacking midfielder in team. if walcott and rooney is playing well and tosun is not on the bench, he will surely score (in todays circumstances)

but really I don’t know anymore the overall football against watford made me depressed and I don’t think any player can show any personal good performance when the team plays that kinda soulless as one

You can’t really second guess the decisions made by a manager who is trying to get sacked. Tosun is just another unfortunate pawn in sams game.
I feel really sorry for the guy tbh. He was a standout player during the group stages of the CL, he got a move off the back of it into the most popular league in world football, but unfortunately for him he has ended up under a manager who is a footballing dinosaur and who thrives off the back of clean sheets rather than scoring goals.
