The press have now declared open season on the dinosaur. They have always been aware of the undercurrent from the fans, yet still peddled the old "Allardyce the saviour" line: now the embarrassing sequence of performances has made them realise that emperor actually does have clothes but they are unfortunately from the 1980s.

I expect many more such articles like the Hunter one, until he is sacked.

The plot thickens.

On a serious note, Hunter leaves little trinkets of info in it though.

"The disastrous results explain why Steve Walsh, appointed by Moshiri as Everton’s first director of football, finds himself under pressure."

"Appointing Sam Allardyce despite opposition at boardroom and supporter level allayed the threat of relegation at a crucial time"

"The club....hope to secure the remaining funds and planning permission this year"

I'll tell you what's annoying me too, that divvy Craig Shakespeare. Supposed to be the 'eyes in the sky', looking down from the Main Stand with his headset telling Sam which players are sticking to tactics, etc. Does he actually do anything, or is he doing his job and Sam is ignoring him? Either way his appointment has also been a disaster. Of all of the absolute divs who have come on board recently, Walsh, Allardyce, Shakespeare, Lee, I'd go as far as to say Sammy Lee is the least disappointing of them all. During our good run when they first came in he was constantly barking instructions from the sideline, but in recent weeks even he's been nowhere to be seen. I really hope this is all because the gang of them know they're off in 2 months, but that's no excuse to down tools and essentially relegate us or leave us extremely close to the drop.

He was good for Watford untill our approach unsettled him. So don't be silly and dismiss him.

All that tells me is he is easily distracted which would worry me.

Besides he was relegated with Hull. Hardly his fault but we really need to stay away from managers with any divisive issues. As soon as we hit a bad run the usual "he got Hull relegated" stuff will start happening because that's what we do.

We need to get this next appointment spot on.

""The players have no excuse anymore for not getting out there and performing," said the Everton boss upon bringing the team back from their break in Dubai prior to the Watford defeat. But with a game against a Burnley side who remain winless in 2018 up next, there is a growing sense that it is Allardyce who is the one running out of excuses."

The wolves are beginning to circle.

You know, he hasn't actually done that bad considering how woeful we have been since the beginning of the season. But I would be disappointed to see him at the helm next season and, indeed, would be appalled if there wasn't a significant clearout elsewhere in the summer
