So basically he should give the minority (the left) what they want and drop what he got elected on? Regardless of what you think about a wall, I think it's kind of a bizarre contention.
Trump has come to the table with a very generous (in the sense that it plays to a Democrat objective) offer on DACA. What's the left compromising on?
A deal for DACA recipients is wanted by both sides. A massive majority of Americans favour it, including ~65% of those who identify themselves as republicans. Trump himself has said repeatedly over the last 6 months that he wants a deal on it. Paul Ryan has said they should be protected. Mitch McConnell has said the same.
EVERYONE is supposedly on the same page. A DACA only bill would pass both houses with huge bipartisan majorities. There was ALSO money in the bill for increased border security. Nothing about the deal prevented Trump from going after the wall in the future.
And yet the right still want to use these people's futures as a hostage to get their partisan, divisive agenda.
So one must ask, playing with politics with people who they claim to care about, or are they just lying through their teeth about caring about them in the first place?
