From what i've seen of him and at this moment in time he's our best striker and our best finisher. It was only Unsworth that has played him regularly and he'd just established himself as our first choice striker when Allardyce took over. Given regular game time and goal scoring opportunities i think he'd get at least 15 goals in the league for us which is a decent return. He's not a replacement for Lukaku but I think we've wasted money buying a 26 year old who's had one decent goal scoring season in the Turkish league. Should have just stuck with him and DCL till the end of the season.

Too early to judge Tosun too tbh, especially in light of the brand of hoofball he finds himself having to play

Everyone calling for him to start needs to remember the last times he has. He's much better coming off of the bench when we're desperate and the tempo is up than when we're plodding about and hoofing it waiting for the opposition to put one past us.
People need to also remember the last time he started we hoofed it to him all half and didn't attack the kopites once as a team.

Last time we started niasse and actually tried attacking football he scored and assisted against palace .

Niasse isn't a good footballer. He can score goals if a chance falls his way but the rest of the time it can be like playing with 10 men. He's a good poacher and is better suited to the high tempo football we have to play when we're chasing the game and he comes on as a sub.

That Crystal Palace match is probably the best he's looked starting a game but before he set the goal up he was looking crap and we weren't looking like scoring at the time.

The ball doesn't stick to him and we end up on the back foot. That's alright when we're throwing everything back at them on the counter at the end of the match because we've got nothing to lose at that point but playing him from the start handicaps us.

But isn't that the point? The ball isn't sticking with him so we should attack differently to play to his strengths? There is more than one way to play football and hoofing it to an isolated striker isn't the only way to do it.

We apparently have cms that can assist, we have wingers who can move the ball quickly, we have cms also that can cover a lot of ground to get forward.

Yet we play 2 holding midfielders and hoof it up the pitch and then wonder why balls aren't sticking. Watch United, they hoof it to lukaku and he has players to support him. We don't we didn't under koeman either. Yet we persist on doing this over and over! How about we attack in a way that only gives niasse the ball in the box? Or in space to run onto? Where his strengths are?

We play like every striker we have at the club is a world class 6 foot 5 centre forward with the strength of Hercules and when it fails because the team is always 39 yards away from him or he cannot run past an entire defence then we blame the striker every single time. People blamed lukaku for it, they blame lewen, niasse and soon tosun.

Impact sub, should be told to operate within the width of the 18yard box, great option off the bench.
This is his best use. That said, players that can come in and score goals have value, and Oumar certainly does to us.

I don't believe he has the same effectiveness over a complete match as his lack of skills, other than finishing, become more apparent.

Much like any tool, use him properly and he will do his job.

No no no. Niasse needs to start as he's our best striker (someone who's capable of finishing in open play).

It's unfair to criticise Niasse. He needs more game time to build up his match fitness. His passing and first touch will improve accordingly. Deep down, I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

Good luck convincing Sam to move away from football by the numbers.

I'd love for us to change our style of play but even then I don't think Niasse is as effective from the kick off as he is from the bench.

The thing with Niasse is that the football won't be much better playing to his strengths because he's still not a great footballer just a good poacher. He might score more goals but we'd probably concede more because he isn't a good enough outlet for the team.

I want to give Tosun a chance.

The other side of the coin is that sides are happy to push up against Everton knowing they haven't got a threat against them. Thus why Everton defenders are always making mistakes and hoofing a ball to the CF always results in the ball returning to Everton's half.

By playing Niasse, the opposition knows he's a goal threat and play much deeper than they normally would and Everton's back four is less expose.

He had established himself and was doing very well up until the Kangaroo Court banned him for three games after Palace.

Those three games coincided with a little and alas temporary upturn in our fortunes so Oumar was frozen out again.

He will not get a start over Cenk any time soon so unless Sam goes with two up front the Prince will continue to warm the bench :(
