36 points is the average a teams needed to stay up over the last 5 season, 3 wins and we’re past that.
42 points is the most a teams been relegated with in a 38 game season. We’re 15 points from that.
We’ve averaged 1.3 points a game under Allardyce after 10 games, which has included Liverpool (a), Chelsea (h), United (h) and Spurs (a).
We’ve got an easier run in, than the run of games we’ve had since Allardyce started. But even if we continue with the same points per game average, we’d pick up 18 more points (finishing on 46).
In 03/04 when we picked up 39 points (worst in our history), we finished the season with a 1 point per game average over the last 14 games. In 97/98 we averaged 0.9 points per game & 0.9 in 93/94.
We need about 0.6 points per game to get to 36 and a point per game to get to 42. It’d take one of the worst finishes to a season in our Premier League history for us to get dragged into a relegation battle.
(Sorry about the stats overload, slow day in work)
