Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

Yep I had an argument with my mate about it and he said "you can clearly see he says puta" and I say yes we can all see that but he doesn't react to that he reacts to something else. He was having absolutely none of it, its there to see but nope his mind is made up that he's misheard Firminho and Holgate is in the wrong. That's that problem you see, the majority of them will stick their head in the sand and convince themselves that their players/club would do no such thing.

I had a falling out with the missus over it because I said their club have got form for this kind of thing. That was not me lying, it was me stating fact. Managers making players wear Suarez t shirts in defence of him should have seen that club deducted points for the sheer stupidity of it.

Ideally this would all be a misunderstanding wouldn't it because racism shouldn't be playing a part in any sport. But if he is found guilty I'll be on every bloody message possible to talk down to those rats who have saw fit to call Holgate all kinds

Had the same issue with a good RS mate, he reckons the reason for them getting a bad rep is because the media etc have always had it in for them, I just laughed.

I know it's probably because "he's an Everton player" and I most likely have blinders on, but I just don't see Holgate as the type of player that would make something like this up. Maybe he misheard or whatnot, but he seems like a professional player who getting bitched at for a pretty bad foul wouldn't phase him. Something made him go balistic. Occam's Razor.

Snodin has mentioned this numerous times during commentary - top man, head screwed on, brought up the right way, top professional, well mannered. Mentioned his parents are nice

Exactly. You watch him during the match, he gets fouled, he gets up and walks away to where he needs to be. He fouls, he gets up and walks away to where he needs to be. The whole "he did it to avoid being red carded" means that he had to think, during that whole scramble 'right, Im going to be red carded, in Anfield, after pushing him in to the stands, better think of some way toTOOOO LATE!"

there isn't enough time to even formulate that.

Absolutely no point arguing with them mostly they still defend Suarez & think he was innocent.

A Liverpool fan journalist spelled it out for them. There director of football at the time admitted he rubbed evra’s skin & called him the word.

He’s on loan at Barcelona apparently

Can't see it myself, when Holgate reacts to what was said Kenny is literally holding Firmino and looking at him, and when Holgate reacts Kenny doesn't flinch, you would think this was because he didn't hear what was said.

dave reckons Kenny spins round in shock though, never seen that myself.
The thing is Kenny doesn't react at all and is probably the most passive player on the pitch. At one stage he ends up wandering around on his own.

Kenny's only reaction is to initially separate the players when the players from both sides pile in.

He later speaks to the ref but then again so do most of the players.

I think it is unclear whether Holgate has been racially abused or whether he has misheard so I think the best course of action would be to wait for clear evidence.

Above all though I don't think anyone should be questioning Holgates motives.

They are a cult mate, if one of their players was accused of rape, for instance, they'd go looking through the victims Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts to dig any bit of dirt on them.Cant for the life of me understand why we share the same city with them.

When you are frustrated by your mistakes, the score, your performance - whatever - you might do silly things. I doubt that this includes pushing someone into the crowd, much less on his ground, without good cause.

He could easily have just kicked him or something else so it is clear he THINKS Firmino has said something. Right now we don't know when he heard it. It might be a minute or two earlier.

Do we really think that footballers don't try to wind opponents up? Of course they do. But it's the degree to which one is prepared to go that matters. Calling Holgate useless, s..t or whatever for giving the penalty away would be expected from Firmino who I feel is a snide so he might have taken further.

So let's wait and see. I am in the camp that thinks there is no smoke without fire

I'm convinced something else was deffo said, Holgate doesn't react to the "Puta" remarks, but then reacts to whatever was said after that.

The FA can't seem to get a slot to announce how they will brush this under the carpet, with the Brewster thing ongoing, the Rodriguez incident and now the passing of Cyrille Regis, they can not be seen to be ignoring/dismissing it.
They are really on the rack at the moment.
There is the option for Holgate to make a civil case where his legal team can request all tv footage.
Again I hope the club back him when the time is right.

The thing is they are young men playing Football in a incredibly charged atmosphere you always get flashpoints. In Derby games you see melee's start from the most innocuous of things. If we are going to judge things on players reactions then what was it that prompted Holgate to shove the RS over the barriers in the first place.

Why would the English authorities be constantly making complaints about other countries racism problems and then look to sweep our own issues under the carpet. In this Country in Football we have a zero tolerance policy to racism that hasn't come about by sweeping things under the carpet. If the authorities swept things under the carpet then we would still have monkey chants and players being pelted with bananas. We have come along way and that hasn't happened by turning a blind eye.

Personally I hope the FA take their time, get all of the TV footage, interview the players involved and come to the right decision.

Please see the previous demonstrated case of Luis Suarez.
I 100% believe Holgate.
I believe the FA are trying to minimise the impact
