Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

The FA must be tortuously trying to come up with some compromise that involves Firmino being cautioned but with no ban attached. It'll be interesting to see what they say. There's absolutely NO question in my mind that both Holgate and Kenny - who were two foot away from Firmino and who acted independently of each other - saw and heard racial abuse from Firmino.

Could be Dave, in which case are they running scared of upsetting our nieghbours but what us and Holgate? Think they will idc give Holgate a band perhaps 1 game for the push. But the FA are just trying to come up with something to cover their backs, perhaps.

Has anybody shown it ? Unless the footage is released nobody can that’s the issue , I honestly don’t know but my guess is it isn’t out there . Most footage gets out because one side releases it , in this case because him and his missus are reconciled that means it’s have to come from the crown .

Honestly trust me I hate them , I hate biased media reporting and fawning all over them and I hate commentators ignoring or mocking us and bigging them up . I can’t stand the way the media lauded them over Brewster ignoring Suárez and now this is almost going under the radar . I’m just trying to keep it all reasoned is all Mate .
Can't help being on the cynical side, where they are concerned, mate.

I'd imagine they have a couple of camera angles and lip readers that prove conclusively racial abuse was aimed at Holgate. There's just no other reason for the delay and lawyers have got to be in the mix. Holgate will get punished though, no question.

Context is important now too: the week when Cyril Regis died it wont look great when they deny Holgate his justice.

Another thing to be aware of is that the FA might be trying to get Holgate to swallow some notion that he may have misinterpreted Firmino...I wouldn't put it past the scabby gets.

Does Kenny react similarly to Holgate? I remember seeing someone mention, might have been you dave, that he went right over to have a word with Rooney after the Ref cleared the players away.

I didn;'t mention him running to Rooney, although I think he did.

He defo sees Firmino say something to Holgate and you can see the shock...and he wasn't guided by Holgate's reaction to it either.

The two couldn't have misheard so close to the situation.

Firmino is guilty. And I think LFC's post match statement about 'fully complying' with an investigation said it all.

Forget all the noise about tweets and misinterpretation - Holgaste and Kenny saw and heard racial abuse and I'm convinced we;ll see some acknowledgement of that but that the FA dont want this to kick off Suarez style and will try and contain the severity of what was said.

Firminho to get a 4 game ban for racism
Holgate to get a 10 game ban for years old tweets

You heard it here first
I can seriously imagine Holgate to get a 3-game ban for tweets from when he was 15 and not even involved in professional football, and then Firmino to get a 5-game ban for being a horrible racist.

No doubt the FA will firstly give the ban to Firmino, and only then 'begin' their investigation into Holgate's tweets a few weeks later as to not have the length of the bans compared.

If joke tweets, to a friend, from your childhood get you three games, then face-to-face racism, to an opponent, in front of 50,000 fans and seen by millions and millions around the world on tv should get you about 33 games.

If the FA was really interested in cracking down on racism they'd ban a player guilty of it for a season, but obviously should they ever do that they'd firstly try it out on one of the 'lesser' clubs first.
