Left Back Debacle

We were linked with him and his brother Steven 12 months ago.

Then he would have cost a decent amount but now were talking 30mil+ I think.

At the end of the day...its worth the money as he could be one of the best in the world if he reaches his potential and if he massively falls short he would be either decent rotation OR we sell him to someone else in the championship for breakeven in a couple of seasons the way fees keep increasing.

We had the opportunity to sign him last year, sorry we where discussing with Fulham about both of them... we never took him then.

We aren't signing him though... he is literally the most obvious fit for us, young, exciting talent, could be left back for years and years to come. the flip side is we have HUGE SAM saying we have too many young players in the squad, so I would rule out the chance of signing any more young players for a while.

The other problem is I don't think we know our arse from our elbow currently with transfers and this signing is so obvious the club are nowhere near it, the days of finding good players in the championship and getting them in are over, now we are looking at relegation candidates best players and cherry picking them for ridiculous amounts.

Scouting of champions this.....

I'm probably gonna get laughed out of here but I would switch to 3 at the back. Bring Galloway back from Sunderland and play him LCB and register Garbutt and play him LWB. When Mori and Baines get fit obviously they would come back in but at least we would have some sort of balance in the mean time. I would play a front 3 with Bolasie on the left in the hope that with him being able to use his better foot to cross without cutting inside it may at least force the opposition full backs to stay back a little. Then in the summer make signing a decent left back in OP age group of 25-28 an absolute priority.
I'll laugh at you for the Galloway shout. Can't get a game at Sunderland lol. 3 at the back, I'm a fan of (if Funes gets fit.. Holgate excells in a back 3 and if Keane can find any sort of form, I'd have no problem with a back 3 of Keane, Mori and Holgate.

Coleman is a perfect wing back, and with a decent left wing back, it could work. It also means we can play 2 AMs, 1 DM and Klaassen in position.

Like, like, like. But you would need proper football for that style, which ain't possible ha

When bang average ex pro's come out on tv and say he is the worst premiere league player they have seen, it shows what we have all been saying for 3 years plus ,that we need cover/1st choice LB. Watching Martina and a 45 million pound no:10 trying to defend our left side is a complete embaresment. Go out and get the best left back around and stop buying bloody midfield players we have 320 already.

I agree with your first choice 3 at the back but I would play 3-3-3-1. Coleman RWB Gueye DM ??????? LWB. Walcott RW Sigurdsson AM Bolasie LW. Tosun ST.

He's guaranteed games until the end of the season and if hes confident then he will see that as cementing a 1st team place In a premier league side at his young age as the next stepping stone...to us getting into top 4 or sold to Real Madrid.

Right, let me just stop you there

Oviedo was very poor for Sunderland on Saturday versus Cardiff. He'd be mullah'd in the top flight now. I seem to recall he had one great game and a few better than average, when he played for us.

We should try and buy Tierney or Sessegnon. If we can't get them I would look at a loan from a Spanish or Italian team. They no doubt have an experienced left back who can't get a game that we could pay a loan fee for?
