He didn't. He said we've tended to overachieve in the past and that we were victims of our own success last season.
Depends how you see it.
Success is relative, clearly. But that was in response to something about Koeman getting sacked. And Koeman got sacked because the start of this season was nowhere close to the general play of last season once it clicked. I don't think any of us saw last season as a 'success' really, but more of a step back to where we should be.
And tell me what he's actually moaned about since he got here? Apart from stating we've had a few injuries and he's looking forward to getting those players back and then making sure we don't get those injuries again?? He hasn't moaned about the fixtures like every top six manager, or complained about crap reffing.
I'm not his biggest fan, but you're picking faults that aren't there. The guy has been here 6 weeks. He started with a 7-game unbeaten run and yes, that's gone off the boil in recent weeks when we've had to rotate the squad, which has been proven not to be good enough.
The fault with Sam is that he falls into his old trap. But this squad currently needs to be built back up in terms of quality and morale. That's a fact, mate.
Give the guy a window at least and down to one game per-week - so more time on the training ground - to see what he can do. It's really pie-in the sky to expect him to be off in the summer, because you'll just be whinging then if it doesn't come to fruition.
He's on an 18-month deal and for the time being we just have to assume he's here for that amount of time.
