"Former Ajax captain Klaassen, 24, arrived as one of ex-boss Ronald Koeman's prime summer transfer targets in a £23.6m deal but has failed to make any impact and was not even included on the substitutes' bench for Friday's FA Cup third-round loss against Liverpool at Anfield.

Klaassen may yet face difficulties in ending his struggles at Everton as it is unlikely any club will currently offer a fee anywhere near what Koeman paid to bring him to Goodison Park".

From McNulty's article on BBC. It's clear Allardyce doesn't seem to rate him much, I don't think he's even made the subs bench since Big Sam arrived. Not sure we'll cut our losses on him just yet, however. He's only 24 years old so he won't lose value; maybe he could do with a short loan to a Championship club for a few months? Could either be the makings of him in England, or it could utterly wreck his confidence; hopefully the former

We'll get around £8 million at most for him at present time - by far our worst signing this summer - wouldnt mind loaning him to a Newcastle/WBA type club with the option to buy at something like £12 million and try get atleast something for him.

he's really not even bad at all we just made a signing that totally didn't fit with our other signings and playing sigurdsson or rooney above him is just good sense most of the time.

loan him out until we stop playing rooney every game

Was a daft signing alongside Sigurdsson and Rooney. Especially when we seem to prefer playing with 2 DMs. That said, surely he can’t do much worse than Schneiderlin has?

Think we are just going to have to take a loss on this one and deal with it, hasn't looked anything like the value we paid, I'd draw a line under it and take 15 now

That's not how it works in practice

From an accounting perspective, the value of the transfer fee is spread over the length of his contract - so assuming he cost €25m on a 5 year contract, we can sell him for €20m in the summer and break even from an accounting perspective

The accounting bit is very important as any loss we make from an accounting pov on a player sale counts against us from a FFP perspective

Essentially, we might end up needing to loan him out for the next 18 months or so before we flog him for somewhere in the region of €15m

Yep, get a fee for the loans and then our loss is only minimal.

We paid pretty much massively over the top for him, of course he is going to "lose value".
