Looks like he is going to sign for us so I will give him my full support first then pass a judgement on him after a half dozen games or so. I think that is fair rather than passing judgement before he has kicked a ball in anger.

In the event he fails to make it here then I know for one I cannot puff my chest out and say to everyone that will listen 'I told you so'

I actually want him to succeed so will not take any pleasure or act knowledgable if he fails......because none of us have seen enough of him to pass judgement but we are on GOT so I suppose like any other forum the idiots will try to convince he's crap instead of waiting and seeing.

over and out.

It`s not a significant price though is it mate ?

50 mil is the now the bench mark for anyone half decent.

This is what Shane Long would cost to buy in todays market.

[/b]25 mil is the new 10 mil average player bracket > Klaassen / Keane.[/b]

( I`m not knocking that lad by the way, as I haven`t seen him play )

And they were both bought before the Neymar fee tore up the prevailing values.

Ergo it is worrying Cenk is "only" coming in for round about that price in the post Neymar era :(

I was reckoning the kind of striker we need would cost way more.

It really is. A player who wasn't good enough for us, Sevilla, whichever team he played for in Germany etc etc.

At £27m he is going to be a serious gamble on the Slimani scale. Not what we need right now.
It’s really nice to have some backup in this thread, where have you been.

Clubs on its arse throwing top notes at trash that is getting outscored in his league by Arouna bloody Kone
Gomis is the Turkish Leagues top scorer so far with 14 goals in 17 games to Tosuns 8

(Tosun takes penalties)

The same Gomis who has scored 14 in 17 right now as a 32yo, scored 13 in 64 for Swansea when he was 3 years younger in his prime.

A lot of fans are not bothered if we have a ‘stop gap’ manager or a dead season and just want a new player in for the sake of it, risking a fair chunk of money for no reward in terms of league position this year makes no sense to me at all.

I’d be more than happy with us just getting a capable loan striker and waiting until we have offloaded the dead wood before possibly adding more, this shambles of a club needs sorting out first.

To be honest, given that we have the worst set of strikers in the whole league and are generally a very poor side, I don't think we can start getting ideas above our station.
