The McGeady thing mate - that wasn't actually the case.

Watched his interviews with Si Ferry in the summer. Funny and very genuine, actually.

McGeady wanted to leave. He says in that interview about how Celtic didn't want to let him go mate. He had offers from England but demanded a fee that no team were willing to meet.

He moved to Russia because Spartak offered the money Celtic wanted and paid McGeady a fat wedge.

Wanyama and VVD were both sold in the summer. And both were before it got really, really mental mate. Wanyama was 2013, VVD 2014? The world record fee in 2013 was Bale, but 2014 was the summer Man Utd broke the Prem record with that purchase for Di Maria, at what, £55m? That's been eclipsed four times over now?

Tierney would probably cost £25m. He's what, 20/21 and pretty much their main man. He's signed a really long deal with them and they won't sell in the middle of the season. They have a Europa League campaign coming up that Rodgers is desperate to do well in as he knows he needs to prove himself in something other than the SPL.

He'd definitely come to us I reckon, just not this month.

As I said though mate, would Celtic really turn down an offer of 30m plus some add-ons plus a 20% sell on clause.

He has a one in two average which is 15-18 goals a season, he has a decent assist contribution as well.

What people are missing is what he could bring to unlock other players, a cutting egde, making the ball stick, holding it up brining others into play.

We have over 100 million of talent in support players behind him in Bolaise, Rooney and Gylfi etc, the potential to unlock and optimise their talents and the contribution that could make is significant in my opinion.

His enabling and balancing potential is massive before looking at his strikers skills.
Other teams might actually start treating us with a bit more respect now that we have a goalscorer in the side n all.

...update; no sign of him at the cashpoint in West Derby Village. Waited for 2hours before a policeman moved me on, so went up to the Costa Coffee opposite the Jolly Miller. Mrs Eggs joined me for coffee and bacon butties but didn’t see anybody remotely like Tosun. I’ve come back home now.

Did you go to the local 'bab house?

Written off before he's even played. Perhaps unsurprising given how unproductive Keane, Klaassen and Sandro have been so far but let us see how he does before we pile on. He doesn't have that high a bar to get over to actually improve us...

I'm not in love with the deal, but you can't just look at his league performances. This Betsikas team CL performance is pretty much unprecedented. To pry Tosun away from a team going into the final 16 of the Champions league is a pretty big deal. So there are a lot of reasons why it's an expensive transfer.

Besiktas won’t win the champions league. Quite simply the Premier League league/ Premier League’s wages are better than anything in Turkey. Make no mistake his agent is in his ear saying that he’ll get far more money here and IF he performs well for us he can get a bigger move before his career is over. Hopefully we get some benefit from him for the cash we’re paying first.
