Confirmed Signing Cenk Tosun

There have been some cracking Turkish players in Serie A and La Liga over the years. If you looked at Scottish transfers over the years you would say the same, but the RS have just paid £75m for a player who was in the SPL less than 3 years ago.

No one is saying that there hasn't been.

But what we are saying is Everton have looked at prices paid for players in Turkey, considered a bid, and then have gone in masssssssssssively over the record for a player with a very moderate goal scoring pedigree.

Batembi Gomis, a player who scored 7 in 31 and 6 in 33 for Swansea has nearly a goal a game in Turkey this season

Adebayor, 1 goal in 12 for Palace last season

Burak Yılmaz, who has scored masses of goals in Turkey but has only been risked by a Chinese club because people realise the standard is so bad.

We're about to nearly double the record. Yerrrrrrrrs

Simply looking at stats though pretty much told us that Klaassen had scored for fun outscoring strikers and I think sandro had a better record last season than Neymar . We have to accept surely that there is a bit more to it than goals per game otherwise we’d all be scouts or managers .

I appreciate we’ve not done particularly well in the market this year but we might as well give the fella a chance mightn’t we ?

They may not want to sell Tierney mate, but this is a club who sold McGeqady when they recieved the first really big offer on him, another player home-grown who was as popular as Tierney is with fans. In fact i can't recall Celtic ever turning down what would be for them a large bid at the time - Wanyama -13m? VVD -12m? and so on, always with add-ons and very rarely it requires the buying club to be an elite level one, if ever in fact.

Scale that kind of fee up the way the market has gone, and you'd get them wanting to sell for anything north of 30m+, would the player want to move would be another matter, but higher profile league, testing himself against the best rather than part time farmers, and the small matter of him probably going form 15k pw to 100k pw

The McGeady thing mate - that wasn't actually the case.

Watched his interviews with Si Ferry in the summer. Funny and very genuine, actually.

McGeady wanted to leave. He says in that interview about how Celtic didn't want to let him go mate. He had offers from England but demanded a fee that no team were willing to meet.

He moved to Russia because Spartak offered the money Celtic wanted and paid McGeady a fat wedge.

Wanyama and VVD were both sold in the summer. And both were before it got really, really mental mate. Wanyama was 2013, VVD 2014? The world record fee in 2013 was Bale, but 2014 was the summer Man Utd broke the Prem record with that purchase for Di Maria, at what, £55m? That's been eclipsed four times over now?

Tierney would probably cost £25m. He's what, 20/21 and pretty much their main man. He's signed a really long deal with them and they won't sell in the middle of the season. They have a Europa League campaign coming up that Rodgers is desperate to do well in as he knows he needs to prove himself in something other than the SPL.

He'd definitely come to us I reckon, just not this month.

I don’t disagree with that being a concern though .

Same amount of league goals but in like 350 less minutes. Scored a few more in cups and the CL. Think Tosun is outperforming Kone based on the stats.

But hey let's maybe watch him play for us then say if he's a waste of money?

by that point it will be too late. If the club takes the credit card away from Stopover Steve now, we can use that £27m in a better fashion.
