Problem is though, the old blue network is 'another' symptom of whats wrong with the club mate, besides for Unsworth (and prior to that Sheedy) none of the former blues are very good atb their jobs i don't believe, should be a meritocracy inside a football club - not a way of giving jobs for ex players - they want to do that - then there is many other ways they can do so which don't involve putting them into coaching roles.

Ebbrell and Royle have done good jobs in the academy as did Fergusan with the 18s. The problem comes when they move out of that environment.

Yup, heres where i see past all the media narrative about this hiring, in his past clubs, they have generally been beaten down over a decade of struggles till they just accept what he does, and even put up with his first ten games usually producing worse results than preceded his hiring, because they have effectively lost hope as a club and set of supporters already.

Two clubs he has managed - West Ham and Newcastle - who like it or not have fans that have expectations about their clubs, at West Ham he got them promoted so earned a respite, but they turned on him when the football became dire and it showed no signs of improving and they hated him, at Newcastle he lasted half a season they turned on him and they where in dire straights by the time they sacked him.

Everton fans won't get behind him for ten games of similar results or worse than what we are seeing now, not a chance in hell, that Anfield Derby will see us absolutely ripped apart and lets see how many still think he's the best man for the job at that point.

Mate, most of the Ajax ones played a couple of years there and came through the academy before working under some of the best managers and coaches the games seen, most have been serial winners through there careers as well, and most of them could walk into other coaching roles but chose to go to Ajax for that.

With ours - who on earth is hiring Jeffers and Ferguson, the former players of ours whom have gone elsewhere have tanked spectacularly badly - one exception being Arteta who is doing well - but then again he fits the criteria of the Ajax ones - he learnt under a very good manager in Wenger and came from the Barca youth setup

Not gonna be funny with you here mate, but i think as long as your not an utter idiot, then as a former top level player who has a basic gfrasp of what to do coaching wise, you can coach relatively successfully some of the young academy sides. for one your tending to be dealing with a much more simplified stripped down version of the proper game, and for second your dealing with young lads who don't need motivating to give it their all.

Completely different to coaching players on 70-100k a week and who are better than you where as a player on top in lots of cases.

Well that's true mate. It's about a culture though, of having lads who have played the game, come through the academy being effective role models for young players. We are unique in England for that and it's a useful assett for the club, alongside top draw coaches.

I agree re Arteta. I'd also say Carsley, Weir and Stubbs have all gone on and done ok.

We never beat Liverpool regardless of who the manager is so I fail to see how that proves somebody’s worth.
