Sir Landon Of Donovan

I'm gonna say it again... MLS high profile players get to play where they want to play. Money, whether transfer or wage, is secondary.

If Landon wants to play at Everton ...and right now according to the features on ESPN about the value of LD's time with the club. We are being set up to accept 'losing him'. He and MLS will find a way.

The only thing that will stop it, in January, is if the offer is insulting. IE; it must be for more than Dempsey brought.

Dempsey doesn't have the highest transfer fee. Jozy does at about $10M.

Ok folks. You can take this to the bank:

1) IF Landon leaves the LA Galaxy and MLS, it will ONLY be for Everton. No he isn't going to Chelsea. No, he isn't going to Italy or Germany. It's Everton or not at all. I laugh at the USMNT supporters who think that somehow he's going to use this WC to engineer a move to another club other than us. They really don't understand what happened with him over here and they don't understand Everton and what it means to play for us. Landon DOES understand.

2) Moyes can find 10M USD (7M GBP) to buy him. The only question is will he. I say that he does and that we make a concrete offer to MLS for Landon Donovan soon.

3) MLS will not get 15M USD for Landon. At 28, that's just a bit too much for a player, regardless of quality.

4) Landon by ALL accounts, loved his stay at Everton and his experience. If Landon wants to come back, he can make it happen. I say that he will.

Carry on.

Complete agree, Bill. It's US fans' dreams to see Landon at a "big" club, not Landon's.

If he's coming to Everton again he's going to a big club.

I just thought I would remind those who seem to be forgetting this point.

Equally there are external economic factors throughout Europe that says >US$10million fees are completely out of the question. The same for Home Grown player regulations, and Club Financing rules that are incoming.... Things are going to be changing. It's not business as usual in terms of club debt levels, and thinking cashflows are immune from the economy.

It might be structured - with partial upfront and partial on appearances if any fee was being paid.

But it'll be another loan.... if he is coming. IMHO

Having seen them up close there is no doubt in my mind that Pienaar is comfortably a better player. Donovan wouldn't be a good replacement, simply because he wouldn't replace what Pienaar gives us. He'd be a good alternative to Pienaar on the opposite wing but as a replacement, it's a big NO for me.

Technically yes, but in terms of character Donovan appears to have a much bigger pair on him. If I had to choose who to have in the team I would choose Donovan, personally.

Ok, now that the USA have been eliminated its time to move on to more important issues....like getting Landon Donovan to Goodison...

I don't see him coming back. He's got to be exhausted after 2 years of non-stop football; he's trying to reconcile with his wife (an actress who won't be leaving So-Cal); and he may be tempted to sit back and enjoy his twilight years in the MLS.

A lot depends on whether he wants to push for a fourth World Cup when he'll be 32.

Personally, I see him building a life in Cali if he and Bianca reconcile.

There was a reason for the quotations around big

SI is reporting LD may have got a girl "in the family way" which might put a damper on reconcilation if true
