Two of the biggest names are available now..Tuchel and Ancelotti That won't be the case next summer, as I'm sure which ever two managers out of last year's top 6 don't make champions league football this season, then I think they'll be sacked. Throw in the Bayern job, those managers won't be out of work next summer.Well they're only five points above us at the moment, but while I grant your point, will you grant it's not without risk? Let's not pretend this is a big hire. We need to get it right. If that means giving it to Unsworth to prove himself this season, then what's the harm? Either he impresses and we have our man, or we buy time until May to get the right guy and give him a full Summer window.
One developmental level and the other senior level answers that.. I doubt Mourinho knew where Stamford Bridge was before his appointment. What I don't understand is why people consider Unsworth (who knows the club, the players and the staff) to be a massive risk, yet someone like Tuchel - who has zero experience of the Premier League and probably wouldn't be able to point out Goodison on a map - isn't.
I'm torn at the moment - I'd like to see Unsworth given a run of games to show if he's up to the job of turning the team around.
We've smashed £10m + on paying Martinez off, then paid £6m to get Koeman out of his Southampton contract, then paid what....£2m to get him out of ours? The price of failure eh?
It's a public job interview for Unsworth as I see it, if he does well next few games he'll get to the end of the season at most so options are kept open. We'll court Tuchel, see what he says and probably Dyche too. Can't see Tuchel committing unless he's guaranteed significant funds and how he sees the Walsh role. Can't see us doing another £5m+ managerial salary if it can be avoided.
Board will leave Unsworth in charge whilst the 'scour the world for the worlds best' only we all know it's really treading water hoping results turn under the interim so it saves another expensive outlay in January unless its really become desperate. Hope Unsworth does well, it'll be honest endeavour backed with a real passion for the Club. A good base to start with, hope the players respond and he gets a fair crack.
His record on Wiki just shows one German cup win .........Not sure you should be comparing him with JoseOne developmental level and the other senior level answers that.. I doubt Mourinho knew where Stamford Bridge was before his appointment.
As an outsider I might be a bit disconnected from the average fans sentiments. I am not a Tuchel fan but I rate his work because of how he sets his team up. Basically, he is Martinez with a tactical know how and also trusts youngsters to do the job.

More about Chelsea than Jose. They did not settle. His record on Wiki just shows one German cup win .........Not sure you should be comparing him with Jose
All I'm trying to say is... He might not be the right fit for the fans after Martinez but he is tactically sound. Is he a deluded fountain of phenomenal positivity with tactical know how mate
That can't be right because we were told when he joined by many posters on here that he was a top, top manager.Klippetty has the worst record of their recent managers..........Roy excluded
Maybe I should have waited for the Ancelotti thread to make this point.Hardly comparing like for like are we? Mourinho had would a few trophies with Porto, including the CL. Tuchel has won......? The German version of the FA cup?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against bringing in Tuchel in the slightest. But don't be comparing him to Chelsea bringing in Mourinho. Totally different level.
