David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Last season we went on a run where we won 1 game in 13

Edit : Tell a lie, it was 2 in 12.

We're on a 2 in 12 run now I think it is
I think we had the cushion of a good initial start though and the rest of the teams around us were poor.

We cant assume these players are capable of anything other than getting small steps out of this and any new face in the dugout could put us back in recovery. And the quality of this squad looks way down from last season.

It's a very dangerous place we're in right now. That cant be stressed enough.

We may as well just give him the job.

'4-5-1' - it wasn't. It was clearly, just like Koeman and Martinez, 4-3-3. Let's not dress it up like Unsworth was implementing some great new plan. If Schneids hadn't fallen ill, we'd have had two sitting midfielders again, just not Gueye.

'only a striker away' - we had three of them on the pitch at various points, rooney, then DCL and Niasse. They key issue is that it's not a functioning unit.

Amazes me that people can't see we are getting the pat-head,on the heart strings stuff here that is absolutely classic Kenwright's Everton. People are letting sentiment cloud their judgement.

And wtf is that praise of McCarthy. Christ.

Just appoint the man, don't mount this weird emotional campaign.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s as if a large number of my fellow Evertonians have succumbed to a bout of Kenwrighitis.
We lost last night, we fought hard in the second half. Pretty typical Everton getting knocked out of a cup over the years. There were good points , playing Baningime which I criticised proved a better decision in the second half.
We are in danger of overpraising a manager just because he isn’t Koeman.
Anyway any manager who reintroduces the red-faced crab back into the side will have his work cut out getting me onside.

His reaction after the game last night was encouraging. Unhappy that we lost but was pleased with the commitment and, more tellingly, he said that he had 'a lot to work with' based on what he saw, implying that he knows how to improve us.

totally spot on.

Just look at that tweet. 'Unsy'??? What the hell is that? None of the top clubs in the league would call their manager by some sort of cringey pet name. 'McCarthy back in action' a positive??? He's been getting pelters off supporters for the last three seasons.

So frustrating. We need professionalism at a time like this and we're getting sentimentalism. We'll carry on being a museum.

He'll be booted if he doesn't get results, far quicker than any other manager too. He's barely had a chance to make the lads run around cones, we're just happy for him and being positive after Man-baby almost killed us.

None of them eh? This fella says hello

He was called Fergy by the media, rarely the club's official channels.... which is what I put in my post.

Perhaps they should have called it The Sir Fergy Stand  Good try though mate

First four articles, 'Sir Alex Ferguson' in full.
1. He was referred to as Fergie by the club on numerous occasions, including on merchandise etc.
2. It did die down a bit after he was knighted (for obvious reasons), true
3. If you'd prefer to forgo Ferguson, that's fine (wrong, but fine)... perhaps you'd prefer this one, since it's an identical situation to Unsworth's (former player for the club stepping in as interim manager:

"Good try though mate".

1. Club merchandise, for the kids and overseas market. Not the same as official club missives. Good try, not right though.
2. Before and after. So again, thanks for proving me right.
3. So I was right about Ferguson, and you've found one obscure reference to Giggs (who got, what, one match and was never in any danger of getting the job full time) rather than 'Unsy' who may very well be the permanent boss.

Good try though mate x

@orly Don't agree with everything you are saying but agree "Unsy" is vile.

Absolutely cringe isn't it mate. He could be our next permanent boss and it's salt of the earth 'Unsy'.

Sentimentalism when we need professionalism. Simple solution; stop this tripe, appoint him full time, put him under the same focus as everyone else, and hold him to the mantra he quite correctly used in the press conference - we need a winning manager.

Sunday is utterly massive.
